NiMH rechargeable batteries questions

Eneloops state that they'll retain 85% of their charge after a year of sitting around. I think that's pretty accurate, because I charged a set of mine after about 6 months sitting around, and they were charged in an hour.

It takes about 6 when they're "dead" (won't run the camera anymore).

I recieved a C-9000 yesterday and a set of eneloop batteries and selected "break in" mode. The charger prompted a selection for mAmp which is 2000 mAmp for those batteries. I put them on about 2pm yesterday afternoon and watched them through the evening. Nothing out of the ordinary. This morning I looked at them and they were still in "charge" phase and were reading 2800 mAmps. Any clue what is up with that?

Mine done the same thing. But looking through the instructions, they say that the reading may "show" higher than normal, but not to worry for that is normal. As long as the batteries are not "excessively hot" then they should be ok.

The 2400 Eneloop are 2400 mAh, you should of set your charger for 2400 not 2000, if you did get the 2400's.

Whoops = I see you got the Eneloop and not the Imedon's, disregard what I said above.

The eneloops are 2000 mAmp as you know. I did read where the amps could show up to 30% high...I'll have to back and read that again. The batterys were slightly warmer that skin temp this morning.
 
I've been really impressed with the Rayovac Hybrid NiMH batteries... use them in my FX3, had them in the unit for the past 4 months, still offering great power supply... came charged and ready to go.

I like them. Work well in the cold so far as well.
 
We are headed into mid November. Not to imply the batteries don't work great in the cold because I'm sure they do. But I am curious as to just how cold it has got in Lubbock Texas so far this year Brandon?

Considering I only mentioned having them in the Fox pro for 4 months straight, I forgot to mention, that I've had them for several months (nearly a year now), and this Winter/Spring was mighty cold for this area. Took them with me on a Cull Hunt in January, and was in Central Tx when it was -10* in the tree stand. Used them in my flashlight. Worked well... didn't have to charge them before putting them in the Fox Pro. Sorry for the confusion.

I bought them at a Battery Joes.

Well, I got my charger and decided to start prepping the batteries.

I was going to use the break in cycle for these new Eneloops but the package claims they are pre charged.

Should I go ahead and do the break in procedure or has it been already done on these eneloops?

I dont know what to do now??

Anyways, this charger is the stuff!

It can do everything.

I've got about 20 Eneloops. They were charged to around 80% when I bought them. I charged them full, then started using them.

It did seem that after another cycle, they showed more capacity.

Do the break-in procedure, I think you'll be getting full capacity quicker that way.

If you don't do the break-in, you'll get full capacity in a couple of cycles anyway.

It's not a huge difference.

I got the 2000 mah loops, but when I recieved them and opened them up it says 1900 mah on the battery?

Does that make a difference?

All of mine are printed 2000mAh. I'd guess they test them and sell them as 1900 if they don't actually make 2000mAh.

The only difference it makes is you'll get 5% less power out of the cell.

You'll probably never even notice, in my opinion.

I'm about a week ahead of you in this process. I checked the eneloops out of the package and they were in no way "precharged". They were charged to about 300mAmps. The c-9000 charger is da bomb as it will give you all the info you need about the battery as well as perform functions such as cycle and break in. I had a post earlier in the thread about overcharging during break in and went back and read the c-9000 info sheet which states that it will take the batteries up to 1.6X the rated capacity for the battery due to heat loss. Apparently this doesn't harm the battery. Happy charging.

Went out and called in a grey on the precharged eneloops earlier but couldn't get a shot on him.

Waiting till evening and going back with a decoy.

Gonna charge em all up this week in my downtime.
