Nite vision equipment

I use to use a $2000 unit for viewing at night, had a 6 power lens. Just one problem with it, if a coyote was in a dirt field at around 300 yrds it was very hard to see, no contrast.
I sold the unit and now I use just the NightForce light units that mount on your rifle or shotgun. By carrying a 12 volt-12 amp battery this combination works much better in finding the coyotes then the Night vision viewer. I can locate eyes to 400 yards plus with out much problem with the red lens and have taken coyotes out to 250 or so yards.

The units I have used were Gen III and very expensive. Would have no trouble seeing a yote with these. The problem is that rifle scopes have limited power range 6x being tops. They do have other type units that fit regular optics but very few and really expensive!!! Any of the units available to the civilian market are no where near what the good stuff is and the import stuff is even worse( Gen I) if that.

I`ve got a Gen 1 Rusian scope and sold my Gen 1 gogles because they didn`t draw enough lite. I`m thinking about going to Gen 111 gogles and a lazer site for nite calling. Just the cost of the Gen 111 gogles is why I haven`t made the move yet.

MY VERMON BUDDY PURCHASED A GEN III LAST MONTH. TRIED IT OUT A WEEK AGO. UNFREAKING BELIEVABLE. WE CALLED SIX SPOTS KILLING THREE DOGS AND A CAT. SPOTTED EVERYONE COMING IN WITH THE NIGHT VISION. SPOTTED ONE AROUND 400YDS IN A WHEAT FIELD. THEY ARE HIGHLY PRICED (AROUND 2000 GRAND) BUT IT WORKS GREAT. OUR VERMON ARE VERY LIGHT SHY. THE LIGHT DOES NOT BURN TILL WE ARE READY TO SHOOT.
