No more ammo at Walmart? Possible correction?

I can tell that a lot of you know nothing about how Walmart operates. As a supplier who has had to deal with Walmart, I can tell you that there's no way they stop ordering anything on their shelves to wait for pending legislation for two reasons.

1. Money. Letting the shelves sit empty and missing out on the millions of dollars in sales that are being driven by the Chicken Littles out there? That's absolutely retarded. Walmart is all about selling and there's no freaking way they would put themselves on the bench and forgo months or even years of sales with this "wait and see" bullsh!x.

2. Inventory ownership. In almost all cases, Walmart contracts include a right to return almost anything to a vendor for any reason. So Walmart isn't going to get stuck with anything if the laws change. They'll simply return it to the vendor. If the contracts that were in force before Sandy Hook didn't included this clause, they do now.

And on a related note, in many cases the vendor still owns the product long after it enters into the distribution chain of Walmart. Therefore, Walmart assumes no risk until they actually own the inventory. Which in many cases is just before it hits the actual store shelves.

The way Walmart procurment operates, the supply chain lead is very short. Orders placed today are not for goods that go and sit in some giant Walmart inventory warehouse for months before they are shipped out to stores. Orders placed this week are in stores within days.

Sorry Conspiracy Theorist Retreads. You're going to have to try harder and at least make it plausible. The biggest gun retailer in the world decides to stop selling ammo "just in case something happens sometime"? Yeah, right.

Didn't read this before my post, and makes a lot of sense.

I'd be very surprised that this were true. Walmart has been in and out of ammo and firearms sales over recent years, if they didn't see value in it, they wouldn't keep bringing it back. Sure, maybe they suspend for a while and then bring it back later to look good in the current popular environment, but I don't think Walmart will write ammo or firearms off of their list quite yet.

I was in our local and small Walmart yesterday, and there was a fair deal of ammo as I recall - didn't look it over as I rarely buy factroy ammo.

I was in Walmart tonight at around 1830 hrs central time.
Went back to check on ammo, of course no 223 ammo. I asked the clerk at the ammo counter if any 223 ammo would be arriving any time soon. His reply and I quote....

"We just got word today from corporate they are stopping ALL AMMO PURCHASES from the ammo distributors until further notice."

I said just 223 right? he said "all ammo" shotgun , pistol, rifle.

Why in the world would you ever buy anything from Walmart in the first place? They don't even speak English as a first language in these parts. Most of what they sell is cheap foreign crap made by even cheaper labor in fire trap sweat shops.

Good! Maybe the gun shops that truly care for their customers will have more access to ammo.
I hate Wally world and their business practices.

I just bought [2] Remington 700,s ADL's in .223 Rem from my local store. I asked the clerk how the 223 ammo supply was. His response was " It comes in to us just fine. It goes out just as fast". There is the problem. People are buying it as fast as it comes in.

I reload and have plenty of stock.... No problem.....

like I said I work for Walmart and we ship out ammo plenty and continue to do so. I also get an employee discount and buy 95 % of my ammo from there due to local store can't compete with their prices. I do how ever buy my reloading supply at the gun shop.

I was at my local Walmart today and they had less than a dozen boxes of ammo in their entire class cased ammo counter. 2 or 3 boxes of 270 and a couple boxes of 22-250 and some 12 gauge. That was it.

There was a sign taped to the glass that said "limit 2 boxes per caliber per customer".

I picked up a box of 9mm at the local gun/pawn shop. The had no .22 lr whatsoever and only 5 boxes of .223 and that was Winchester ballistic silver tips. My co-worked bought a box of 270 wsm Winchester silver tips. When we got in the truck I opened the box and 2 rounds were missing (about $4 worth). He went back in to get a full box.

Academy had no .22 lr, .223, 9mm or .38 of any kind. None of the 3 had Remington Core Lokt 130 grain .270 I was looking for.

Ammo is getting hard to come by everywhere one local place with a indoor range is only selling ammo to people who are there to use the range.

This just goes to show the value of questioning everything and that the Internet can be a dangerous thing. I suspect that this hoax was ginned up by a gun controller for the sole purpose of creating division among our ranks. We shouldn't be so quick to join the lynch mob.

I went in to one of the walmarts here today and looked for ammo. There was none, and the employee told me that they were not ordering any ammo OR guns, and will not until afterwards to see about new laws. She said she was told that by management this morning.
I've heard as mentioned in a earlier post about walmarts inventory not being theirs until its swiped across scanner so Im not sure, but thats what I was told by the lady thats worked in that dept. for along time.

I think we are seeing Wal-Mart walking a tight rope.
Store personal are telling customers what they have been
told, and Wal-Mart official statements tell a different
story.

Are you going to believe me(Wal-Mart mouthpiece), or your lying
eyes? My eyes tell me Wal-Mart isn't ordering replenishment
ammo supplies. I think it is time to tell the wife we need
to shop somewhere else. She prefers Festival Foods, and I
can buy my stuff at the local Farm&Fleet. Wal-Mart
can pound sand.

Well a quick trip to my local walmart today they were unloading a cart full of various different calibers and had more on the way and just received 3 AR's in and sold all 3 to one customer.

Not true - at all - quit helping the liberals. Even the Rush the Great is wrong in running with a story before confirming it. Research and wait a bit before spreading the disinformation.

Wait a minute...I thought if IT was on the internet, then IT was TRUE??!?! W.T.F.?!?!?!

I think this would be solid advice for every media personality standing in front of the camera as well.......
