new to this sight. Just retired from the USAF and moved home to Huntsville. I have always been an avid deer hunter but have always wanted to get into the predator thing. I have decoys, pm4 ecaller and looking to learn as much as i can this season. Maybe we can get together and chat.

Finally a posting from/about Alabama. I'm just entering this sport, reading all I can, and lining up areas to call. If an 'Alabama group' does exist, please give directions.
 
Hey guys, im new here, Saturday was my very first coyote hunt. Im hunting on some friends land up in Oneonta Alabama,on Smith road, i went up on the mountain and went to where i wanted to sit,but once i got into the woods,about 40 feet in there was a barbed wire fence and I didnt want to cross it, so i found me a place to sit so i could see into the woods and watch the open field. started calling just after sun up, didnt see anything, i did hear somthing down in the holler moving around,but never seen what kind of critter it was. After a good while of sitting and calling i decided to go scout around, found me a much better place to sit next time, i sat down and started my rabbit distress calls and attracted the attention a a hawk. So on my way back to the truck,i was on the dirt road,and following right alonng with the hoof prints of the cows and calfs were some coyote tracks in the muddy sand,so i know they are up there, just gotta find'm
 
I'm not from north Alabama but I'm from west central Alabama......we have great success around here with Yotes.....been doing it for a few years now.
As far as weapons go I usually tote my 11-87....and since I don't save fur my 300 Win Mag is my rifle of choice.......
NOW.....as far as calls go, we have used FOXPRO, hand calls and MFK diaphragms.......the diaphragms are the best there is!! They don't make a call as realistic and versatile as Torry Cook's diaphragms. Check them out MFKGAMECALLS.COM!! PM me if y'all have any questions or wanna talk hunting!!

Yes its an old thread but it is my region so I had to post. Im new to the forum and new to varmint hunting.
Finally got access to a few areas of land and plan on giving it a go!
 
Shelby county here, Helena. New to the forum and new to predator hunting. My 11 year old son was actually the one who read about this and got interested. He convinced his mom to order a Mojo predator decoy with his allowance money, (gotta love that).Looking for a place to hunt and ANY advice offered is appreciated. For me safety for my son is paramount. What do you guys think about hunting on the public management areas? Anybody who would be willing to host us would be appreciated, and we respect all rules and land.

Hello. Nice to see all the N AL yote hunters. Been busy with work so much the last several years it has slowly cut into my hunting days to the point I don't go much. That doesn't make me happy. Making some changes and actively going to hunt my tail off over the next few months to start with.

I come from ND where a good long range rifle is needed. Here in AL with the thick woods I would almost think a shotgun is a must.

Looking fwd to getting in on more discussions and most of all...hunts!
 
Well I also am new to predator hunting but I am looking forward to getting started as soon as this cold snap gets over. I have killed few coyotes but as someone else said they have been during other hunting outings. I live in Cullman County and have lots of land around my house that I can hunt. It is nothing here to hear a pack of yotes running late in the evening here. I have some moth calls and have practiced and believe I could call yotes in but I also bought an electronic call to get started with. I'm glad to find this forum where I can gain information on different hunting techniques from experienced hunters. I do have one question. As I said the yotes I have killed have been during other hunts so I just left them where they laid. I'm curious as to what you guys do with the dead animals you kill? Is there someone who takes them for the hides etc. or what do you do with them? Looking forward to enjoying this site as well as the hunting!
