north carolina coyotes

Nothing movin here lately. I don't know wether all the crunchy snow has affected
the critters or not.just glad its finally gettin out of here. I hope to go out this
weekend on a farm that coyotes have been seen lately. a big creek bottom connects
a really thick block with another block that has a dairy farm and several small farms
in it. think I am gonna try there.
 
I'm here in Southeastern North Carolina,no snow and no luck either. I've seen plenty of sign, but after five or six hunts since Jan. 1 not a thing.
 
i know how you feel smokepole 8 hunts and no yotes not even a sighting. i have got a few foxes red/grey i don't think the people around here are seeing as many as they are telling.going to oklahoma from feb 18 to the 23 hoping to really get into them.
 
Yea Creekhunter, The coon hunters in my area haven't reported as many coyote sightings as last year. Going to keep plugging away anyway, maybe a cat will pop out. Good luck in OK.
 
Got my first one yesterday,after about 75 setups.lots of hard hunting for one coyote but it was worth it.Mabey the next one will only take 50 calling sessions.
 
sorry for the late reply creekhunter,I'm in Rutherford Co.That's where I hunt moste but I have a place in beaufort but I dont get down there but two or three times a year
 
i hunt caswell,chatham,alamance not mch luck here some fox that's about it .going hunting in oklahoma in the morning hope to get some let me know if you have any luck.
 
I call in Wayne Co. Have taken four coyotes this season. Only one cat. Have called many greys in and only one red. Our fox laws are kanda' grey in this county. I don't think you can legally shoot them...thus the "gray law" idea. The pup distress works real well on the greys. I did call one coyote in to that tape also. The cottontail distree has called in six foxes, one being the red, since the food supply has become more scarce. Are any of you more familiar with the fox laws? I understand that coy. and crows can be taken with the e-caller. Good luck to you all!
 
Newhornet, the fox laws in NC change almost from County to County. In my huntimg area we could no longer take foxes with firearms after Jan 1. No one could take foxes with firearms after Jan. 24. To the best of my knowlage, you can only use e-callers on coyotes............Good hunting
 
Thanks for the info Smoke Pole. I read that you can call crows also with the tape. I do think that's all the legal E-calling though. Hope you had a successful calling season where you live! Later.
