Northern Idaho Coyotes

Anyone hunted coyotes around the Mudd Lake area of northern Idaho. Found a rancher there that is having some problems with them. Just curious about the country and how much success you may have had in this area. Thanks for any info!

Predator Guide, I live in north central Idaho and have never heard of any lake around here by that name. The only Mud Lake I have heard of is in south eastern Idaho. It is fairly close to Idaho Falls and Rexburg. Could this be the Mud Lake you are talking about?

If it's the Mud Lake by Rexburg that's my stomping grounds. It's the only Mud Lake I know of. It takes about 15 minutes to get there from my house. The coyotes are real spotty this year and snow conditons make it hard to get around right now. The areas that are accessible have been hit hard. Mud Lake has always been known for alot of dogs and it's easily accessed so guess where everybody goes. The dogs get chased bad by the snowmachiners there also. My neighbor was out the other day and didn't see a single coyote or fox. He said they put about 80 miles on their sleds. The area has been good up until this year. Rumor has it that parvo went through the coyotes last year. For what ever reason tracks are few and far between. We went out there about 3 weeks ago at night howling and only got one response. Sorry to sound so negative about it but I've been there and done that. Usually there can be good calling but not this year.

Thanks for the replies guys. Sorry to hear the hunting hasn't been too good. Sounds like it gets hammered pretty hard. Of course, that is true of a lot of areas anymore. I think it is around Rexburg area. Us Utahns don't really know what "Northern" Idaho is I guess. Thanks again.

Coeur d'Alene, Id, Lonny. I was in SE Idaho for New years and there was not a coyote track to be found. Must have been parvo? This was north of Driggs.
