Nosler 40 gr.Varmegdedons in 22-250

Folks,
I loaded some 40 gr Nosler's for my No.1V 22-250 Rem. .
My results were not good. Is anyone using these bullets in a 22-250?
If so, how do they shoot and what powder are you using? This is my first time trying these pills and I was using 36 grains of
accurate 2520.

I tried some 40 gr Noslers and V-max in my 1-8" Tikka, 22-250. Without checking, pretty sure I was shooting TAC. Velocity was 3700+, but not a max load. Accuracy was very good. Against others recommendations, I tried them on a coyote one night, with poor results. I apparently hit the shoulder blade area, and when the bullet hit, it looked like the 4th of July. Coyote hit the ground, got to his feet and wobbled to the fence line before I could fire a follow up. Looked the next day and never found it.
I switched to a 53 or 55 gr Varmageddon with much better results. I have loaded some new 62 gr ELD-VT with good results. Very accurate and makes a BIG hole in a coyote.
 
I think most guys shoot 40 grain Nosler ballistic tips with a solid rear base and not the explosive Varmegedon’s. If I remember right, I have fold out wall poster of that particular bullet when it first came out. I’ll have to dig it out! Prairie dog with its eyeballs bulging out! lol. It has a helmet on too. I’ve never tried the Varagedon bullets just because everything I read they’re supposed to explode instantly with shallow penetration, so I don’t think they’d be too hot to trot for saving fur along with surface blow ups on predators.

I shot 6 different powder combinations yesterday benched @ 100 yards. Beautiful day,
Zilch was my results. My Ruger No.1V doesn't like Nosler 40 grain Varmagdedons or BT.

I've loaded hundreds of the 40gr Varmageddons for my 223's. I've settled on a load that is only going around 3400 fps for max accuracy. I've found I can push the 40 Nosler ballistic tips faster with better results than the Varmageddons. I'm not sure if it is the lighter jacket on the Varmageddons or something else that makes them not shoot as well when you speed them up too much.

I haven't even tried the 40 gr bullets in my 22-250. In my 22-250 I've been getting 1/2" groups from 55 Nosler BT at around 3900 fps and haven't even bothered trying something else.
