nosler ballistic tip 50 gr. spitzer

They work well in 222 or 223. The Nosler jacket is slightly thicker than the Hornady V-Max, so they will blow up less often. You will have to see what weight your rifle likes the best. Rifles are like women, no two alike.

Older Hornets have 1 in 16 twist and are made for .223 bullets around 35 grains. Some of the newer Hornets have a 1 in 14 twist and are .224 and will shoot the 40 grain bullets.

So... the 50's are pretty much out.

My favorite bullet for my .223, my .223 AI and my .220 Swift rifles. Kills well too even out as far as 700 yards on prairie dogs. If I was limited to only one bullet choice for all of my .224 bore guns the 50 grain Ballistic Tip would easily be my choice.

I've used them in 222, 223, 22-250, and 220 swift with no problems on coyotes, same goes for the vmax.

vmax are equally as accurate, more explosive and cheaper. I actually prefer the vmax to the nbt. I happened to find a few boxes of the 50g vmax today and bought them for my 223.

Might be worth it to try both and see what the rifle prefers.

I run them in the 223 contender pistol and most of my 22-250's. On the 223 ar15'3 I have found I had to seat them a little deeper then they liked and they did not shoot very well for me in my rifles. In the contender seating length of course is no problem so they shoot very well in my contender.

I shot them in a 22 Hornet with 12.0g of 296 with win primers, 50g Ballistic tip never shot a hole through a coyote or did damage that I can remember(work up to that load in your rifle)

I shot thousands in a 222 and 223, they are very accurate bullets and if you and your rifle are capable, they will shoot 1/4" groups.

In the 223 and 222, H335 is a great powder for both cases, then again, what ever you can find these days is a good powder.

I have a Ruger 77 in a 22 K Hornet. The 50gr. NBT over 13.5gr. of Lil Gun and CCI 550 SPM primer at around 2900fps is a tack driving critter killer! Under 100 yards it is quite explosive. . .much past that it has a good mushroom, unless it comes in contact with something hard. I neck shot a 100/120 lb. hog this weekend at 117 big steps, and it made a 2 1/2" exit hole using the animal's vertebra and bullet as shrapnel ! ! ! I would like to try the Barnes 53gr.'s, but just can't swallow the price tag!
