Nosler...Hunting BT vs Accubond?

I've got a 270 that is my deer/elk rifle when I'm not using the smokepole. Right now I'm shooting 140gr Nosler hunting balistic tip bullets. I dont rifle hunt that much when it comes to deer or elk perfer the muzzleloader. I've only shot one doe with my 270 and she dropped where she stood, no complaints.

I was just curious to how the Accubond bullets compared in general to the hunting balistic tip bullets?

Thanks,
Luke

The NBT is not really an elk bullet, but it will kill cows and spikes relatively easily. Its not however a big bull bullet...

The AB is more of an all around, and is going to penetrate more on bigger tougher animals.

I love NBTs because where I hunt/shoot, i dont get a lot of close shots, under 200 yards just doesn't happen often, so these have always performed great for me. There super accurate, drop game DRT, have relatively high BCs, not to expensive.

The AB is really one of the greatest all around hunting/LR bullets however. It will do the job both close and far, there accurate, have relatively high BCs, and there not to overly priced.

I have to go with kyote. The NBT is great for lighter game, but the AB is for the heavier stuff.
I have had great results, in 308 Win, with the NBT's on whitetail, sheep, antelope and hogs. I cannot do anything other than recommend them. I would use AB's for elk or larger game though, they tend to hold together a little better for that extra couple of inches of penetration. My rifle seems to like the NBT's better for accuracy than the AB projectiles, but each rifle is different in most cases.

Good thread and not to high jack, but do you You folks think the Hunting BT would hold up at a MV of 3400fps? Just curious as my 257 Wby shoots the 115BT at .75in or better, consistently. I'm planning to use them for Texas Whitetails, but have read they may not hold up at that velocity....may not penatrate, just splash. As light skinned as Whitetail are, I find it hard to believe. Shots will be between 75 and 300 yards. What do you guys think?

Inside 100 yards "try" and keep it off the shoulder and you'll be fine.

I'm assumign your talking about the 115g NBT which is a heckuva bullet. I NEVER found a 115g NBT from any animal I shot. Complete penetration everytime/from any range/at any angle on our muleys/whitetails up here.

I've used it in 25-06 for few years at 3200fps on just about everything in Oregon with no problems from 50-600 yards.

those nosler bt are good bullets on deer size game but they do alot of damage on meat. they hit and just jello alot of area. i used the 150s in my 7 mag one season and wont again. i use the hornady gmx or the barnes ttsx for heavy bone, no problem punching througha shoulder blade. not the best up close cause theyre line a fmj and will punch in and out. the accubond is a great all around bullet. i use hornady interbonds in mine and never look back.

I push my hunting BT's out of my 25-06 to around 3200fps, I don't see any reason they wouldnt do fine at 3400fps. I am using the 100gr projectiles at that velocity.

A 140 gr Accubond works well in my .270. Also take look at Hornaday inter bonds . I use the 180 gr interbond in my 300 RUM and they have held together on deer and elk. For close and long shots.

Just go to the Nosler website they have cut away diagrams and mushroomed bullets at different velocity that make it easy to see the difference. The AB is a thicker jacket, with a heavier taper, so less mushrooming, more weight retention.
