hey guys i just bought some nosler 50gr balistic tip bullets. i bought these hoping that the will be more fur friendly than the 50gr v-max. those v-max 50's are nasty!!! thought about the sierra two but went with the nosler. how do the compare with each other as far as performance? thanks lee

I like the 50 gr Blitzking and use the Accutip successfully, which many claim is the V-Max. My physical comparison doesn't prove it to me.
I also Use the 50 Winchester Silver Ballistic tip which is the Nosler with a Lubalox(not moly) coating.
These generally give great accuracy with a tiny entrance and no exit. However with all ballistic tips there is always the risk of a Splash when hitting large bone(shoulder, spine). My ratio in the past has been about one splash in 15-20 hits.
For some reason there has been an extra high number of complaints/questions about V-Maxes recently.

From my experience the 50gr Ballistic Tip is not very fur friendly. The 55gr Ct Nos Bt and 60gr V-max have been very fur friendly for me so far.

I must be doing something wrong. I've shot the v-max bullets for a while and now that I am reloading I use the blitz kings. I use a .223 and 22-250. I can only remember maybe 2 coyotes in the last few years that they tore up. I just can't understand why allot of people complain of fur damage.

The Nosler BT seem to be a little tougher than the Hornady and the Sierra from experience. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I agree doghntr. I've had really good results with blitzkings and V-max. But I've had quite a few splashes with the B-tip in my 22-250 and my .223. I think it's a matter of luck. Sometimes you hit bone sometimes you don't.
