Nosy Neighbors & crooked cops

well last week was deer season here in washington and with the boss bein an avid hunter and me bein one of the only other 2 guys on the payroll at the moment we all decided we would work as little as possible and hunt as much as possible al week. well we had a few odd jobs during the week out in the country so i took my .06 in my work van just in case i had a little time after work before dark on the way home. the boss was ok wth it. so i get home one eavning and see a neighbor across the way and i waved. end of story. well three or four days later i get pulled over for the third time in a month. the officer walks to my window as im diggin through the glove box of my work truck and says dont bother with paper work this isnt traffic related. so i look at him puzled and he says someone had called and said they seen me get out of my work truck with a large black rifle with a scope on it and he just wanted to know why i carried a gun and if my boss knew i had it in the company truck. he told me i wanst in any sort of gun or traffic violation he just wanted to know. he also told me he would call my boss to confirm my story bout hunting season. So needless to say im pissed. why ylu may ask. because my neighbor saw a MEXICAN with a gun yes im hispanic. and called the cops. the cop pulls me over a few days later instead of coming to my door after the incident was reported to "CHECK" on this "MEXICAN" with a gun. now he told me carrying a gun in a work truck wasnt illegal if my boss knew but he pulled me over to check my record to make sure i wasnt a felon with a fire arm based on my ethnicity. thank god for nosy tree huggin peta neighbors and cops who profile people!!!

Interesting spin.... The cop seemed decent enough to me. I've had cops pull me over, and the border patrol has pulled me over on several occasiona, one even pulled a gun on me, I'm white in a largely hispanic state. I bet it's a racial thing...... Or maybe they are just doing their job as best they can. ..... I suppose I could call'em crooked though, that would show'em now wouldn't it. But then I'd start sounding like a whinning baby out lookin' for a fight and I wouldn't want that.

well if i wasnt breaking any laws or bein any sort of threat why pull me over three days later instead of knockin on the door and talkin to me bout it when the inncident was reported. if it would have been you concerned with your life wouldnt you want the cops to act fast instead of waiting three days till after you were dead if you were in any real danger michael

I would want to know why it took 3 days also. Between that time a LOT can happen. I would think that the police would want to talk to you that day it was called in, usually they do.

I would stop in at the police station & file a report if it was 3 days later that you got pulled over, it would have to be for a current problem, or current reasonable cause not a 3 day old report, IMO.

Not sure if Id say cooked cop, but definatley would be looking into it myself.

3 days....meant he didn't care that much. I bet if he pulled you over for Profiling, you'd be up against the truck. cuffed and "detained".

Maybe now you actually have a freind in the cop.
Look him up sometime and chat with him freindly like, who knows.

He did not come to the house, cause the gun was in the vehicle, and if you were doing something wrong, thats what he needed to catch you doing.

your Ok with the cops now I bet.

If your boss DIDN'T know, it isn't illegal either. Maybe against company policy, but none of the cops business.
Cop calling your boss...now that would tick me off.

I suppose that's not quite as bad as me calling the SW Bell security officer about one of their linemen frequenting a Crack House in a company truck....

Turned out he was picking up stuff for a delivery to another crack dealer....but if I hadn't checked on the legitimacy of him being there, we would have never known and maybe some other kid would have OD'd...I didn't do it because I was "crooked", but I'll bet that was his story the next day while he was looking for a job, after the bail bondsman got him out of jail...

He wasn't Hispanic, Black, Female, Senior Citizen or any other supposed minority, so he couldn't cry on one of those points..

But then officers never get lied to either....

Suck it up! Look at it like this, with times like today "rampant unemployment" you need to be on your toes at all times! I know it is easy for me to say that because it wasnt me that got pulled over, but you got to understand there are a lot of people out there that are up to no good!

I think your neighbor is the jerk, no telling exactly what that person said on the police report. I'd give the cop a pass , maybe you didn't like getting pulled over(I wouldn't) especially for doing nothing wrong, but at least he seemed ok about it from what I can tell, maybe his reasoning isn't top notch and I didn't get to see his attitude but he was just trying to do his job. I can't see anything he did would have been done differently for a person of a different race. Did he give you any reason to think he pulled you over because of your race or do you think maybe he pulled you over since he was told about a rifle in the truck. Did he call your boss? I can't really see where that was any of his business or why he did it if he did. I can see you being upset but I can't see where the 'crooked cop' fits. Hope he catch's your neighbor speeding or DUI or something, you could buy him a coffee and donut then

I have known some crooked cops and crooked firemen and crooked real estate agents. What you went through does not seem crooked to me, a little strange maybe, but not crooked.

The problem is the neighbor.

Could be the police were watching you for a couple days to see what you might be up to, then, decided to talk to you about the rifle. The reason for the follow up delay isn't obvious.

Your neighbor is a concerned citizen more than likely.

Profiling you would be an egregous insult to say the least.

Now, if your neighbor is a to green vegan and doesn't like hunters AND wanted to get you into some serious trouble? Then they are genuine azz's!!.......................

The police sounds like they treated you like they would treat anyone else in the same situation. It is there job after all to protect the public. Your neighbors, I agree, are definitely nosy. Are they elderly?
