First, my disclaimer, I do not have any monetary interest in Noxx nor do I sell their lights. I bought their red LED headlamp a month or so ago, and am very happy with it, as I like to scan hands free. The guys at the company, whom I met at our Eastern Sports Show in Harrisburg a few weeks back, addressed some technical concerns and were very intent on listening to me in regard to customer service.
My only concern (And I'm probably being picky) is that when turned on in either high or low mode, there are multiple "light rings" which are a result of the lens reflecting the rings carved into the front of the housing, which to me are disconcerting, as they are not part of the main beam. They were lighting up my gun and chair a bit. I tried a paper halo shield but that did not work, and I noticed that if I stuck something on the inside of the outer housing against the lens, those light rings went away and did not affect the main beam. I know the guys at Noxx are trying to solve the problem, but I came up with a solution today that seems to work.
I took a shotgun shell and cut off the plastic to about 1.5 inches. Then I enlarged it with some heat so it would set into the outer housing against the lens, thus blocking side light. I hot glued it into place, and then put a tarpaper shroud over that. Turned the light on and no rings present. Doesn't seem to bother the main beam at all, and I'll trim the tarpaper shroud to my liking. Sorry for the long post but the "mad scientist" is at work again.........
