here is my 2cents I have ben under water under the ice in a dry suit my feet got like popsicles untill an old timer told me to put my wool socks on first, then cotton on after the wool keeps you warm even when they get wet and the cotton wicks away the moisture.I haven't had cold feet since .Cabelas has a boot "Maverick" witch works for me.
