what would you guys like to see? WSM or Rsaum KR10s?

We have heard about folks liking the RSAUM, but from what all the ballistics tell us, the WSM is the superior cartridge.

On top of the numbers, the WSM ammo is far more common to find out at a general store in the middle of nowhere, so that is the way we are mostly leaning.

We would like your input either via PM or posting in the thread.

Thanks
Travis

the one that has more (and better) brass offerings. i think the saum has a longer neck, better for seating longer bullets; but it don't much matter how long the neck is if you can't find brass.

It is really too bad that Rem let Winchester get the jump on them. If you study the load manuals it appears that the RSAUM is a slightly more efficient case. Dont look at just the MV. Look at the ratio of charge weight/MV out of comparable length barrels.

Randy Luth, former owner of DPMS is a friend and we had this conversation awhile back. The RSAUM is easy to fit into the .308 mag length and the 7mm RSAUM is a bit more efficient than the WSM.

Brass is a tad harder to come by but it's still out there. You may want to check this thread over at Sniper's Hide and PM with "Wild Bill" out in Australia as he has a wealth of knowledge on both rounds: http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthre...904#Post1402904

Good luck with the project whichever way you jump.

saum would be a better mag fit and more efficent it would make sense to offer both since the only extra investment would be keeping reamers around.

I like the Saum brass better than my wssm brass. IDK how good the wsm brass is though.

Would you offer a 270 wsm?

I would like to see the RSAUM for mag length, and efficiency of powder. I think ballistically the wsm is superior, but how much is the rsaum really giving up?

I really have no interest in owning an AR chambered in one but I do have both the 300 SAUM and 7mm SAUM in stock Rem rifles and I have found them to be very accurate and easy to load for. They are fat 308 cases essentially so mag fit should be very easy. DPMS probably had any bugs worked out with their chambering but I don't think they were big sellers, so they were dropped. The 300 WSM certainly has cornered the market so that chambering would seem obvious for market appeal, probably applies to the 270 WSM too.

Would the slightly larger/longer WSM case interfere with loading long bullets hence restricting the long range applications that rifle would fill? I think this is the advantage of the SAUM

I would prefer an 8 I think in the 7mm, but if you are going with the 9.5, would a 162 amax work with this rifling. I was thinking originally to fire a 185 gr. bthp.

I'd go with the WSM.

In my mind...

The readily available brass and other components far out weigh any slight advantage the RSAUM would give you, if any at all.

Ease of finding components definitely affects my own personal decisions. And makes it a better experience in general being able to go out and enjoy it, without having to worry about searching the globe to find the perishable components it uses.

Good luck!

the thing with the wsm, is consistency in mags, just a few thou off in length and they wont work, from what i have found is that the lighter bullets work out consistently like the 150 grain ballistic tips, the 180s and 190s are hit an miss
