The optics sold by Leupold that are Chinese made are junk. Don't waste your money. I looked at one of the spotting scopes and it has terrible optics. Interesting side note, I have several Leupold Gold Ring scopes made in last 5 years and recently got a rifle with a Gold Ring 4x-12x (made in 1976) and the optics are much clearer on the 31 year old scope.

The serial numbers on the bottom of the fakes are a set of all the same number (ie. 8888888 or 9999999 etc.) There is also something else I heard about the markings on the objective being etched and colored white I believe.

I was just curious. Not going to buy something that is basically stealing from a good American company like Leupold.

Your going to see scopes going over seas as labor cost will mandate them to doing so. Burris is in Greely,CO I believe yet the fullfields are made in the phillipines.Labor cost, that is where it is at to be competitive in most markets. You can use quality parts and save on the labor making the end product high quality or equal to those with higher labor force cost.

I think you see those American scopes like Leupold going cheaper on glass and parts lately to offset labor cost, that in my mind isn't going to do them a bit of good. I like Leupold and have a vari x 2 3.5x10 great scope, but I went with a Burris 4.5x15 on a new rig I'm putting together, many say the adjacent other parts are of better quality than that of Leupold when comparing scopes in the same price range. I compaired the fullfield II's with a vari X 1 and II and nikon and found the Burris to have better guts and just as good a warranty and lonegivty from them as well. Time will tell if I made the right purchase.
