Ok, night hunting is fun too when it goes like tonight!

The wind is supposed to howl here the rest of the week so I thought I better get out after supper and see if I could "make some hay while the sun shines".

First stand has paid off in the past but not tonight.

Second stand lucky pecker brought in a fox, and I was gawking at that as it veered off, and noticed it looked like it was looking at something and I spun 90 degrees and caught a pair, one was already on it's way out but the second paid for it's mistake.

Botched the shot somehow, rushed and not zoomed in so I had to make a much harder shot on the move.

The next stand I set up in the long driveway to a farm house, and didn't really get to set up how I wanted because as soon as I got out I spotted something slipping through the stalks. It turns out it was a raccoon, and they get no passes from me but I couldn't get a clear shot through the stalks. So after a while of calling with different sounds a pair of coyotes were pacing back and forth in a somewhat clear spot in the field and it looked like that was as close as they'd get so I put one down at 374 yards.

I figured that was the end of the fun but I stayed put and kept on with some pup distress and another came in from the opposite direction and just happened to stop in a somewhat clear spot. I was pretty worried about a stalk deflecting this shot but it worked.

One more stand looked like it would pay off as one was charging in but the wind was wrong and it got in a low spot out of sight and never came out where I could see it. I'm sure I got winded on that one. All in all it was a good evening.
