hey iam still new to Oklahoma, and iam looking for some places to call in some coyotes. from what i understand everything is private here. where can i find some places to call at?

Around here, it is relatively easy to gain access to the private lands. There is always areas like Lake Carl Blackwell, and over around Lone Chimney. Also Keystone isn't to far.

Go to the ODWC(Oklahoma Dept. of Wildlife) web site and you can find a map of all of the public lands. be sure to consult the regulations for each WMA as they differ. Some do not allow hunting other than special hunts.

I still have some luck, cleaning up and knocking on doors. Most is leased to hunt game animals deer, turkey etc., and you might have to wait until after season, but calling is still good and fresh ground is always fun to call.

I hunt around Lake Carl Blackwell and Lone Chimney but I have leases in both places. I do not know of any public hunting around either place. OSU leases some of their land for hunting but it goes pretty pricey. I have had good luck at Canton Public Hunting area on coyotes and cats. It is an hour and a half west on 51 highway. Kaw Lake has a lot of public hunting area as does Keystone Lake. Good luck.

ya i was talkin to some buddies and i heard the land OSU leases is pretty pricey. dang school kills me in outta state tution and price on leases.haha thanks for the info

How is it on pubic land I'm new to coyote hunting?Im a bird hunter I was training my dog in edmond and two coyotes were in a little ditch on both sides of her I came over the hill boy was she glad to see me I called her to me and we got out of there quickly.Went home called my cousin and went the store got some oo buck and a rabbit call went back to the area.I sat by a tree my cousin went down wind sat there for about 5 min I began calling 45 sec.later bang my cousin shoots one' now I think I'm a mighty coyote hunter YES YES (wrong). It's not that easy made several stands lexington wma nothing, that was three yrs ago wanting to get into it again sighted in my rifle day b4 yesterday.
Thats how I got started in this kind of hunting.

You might want to reconsider your choice of rounds. Buckshot isn't legal in Oklahoma. Nothing bigger than BB officially.

Most State land is not overcalled for coyotes and bobcats....good luck.

Hi guys.....Just thought I would give a quick hello to Rick. I met him tonight browsing the hand calls section of a local sporting goods store. Normally I try not to go into other peoples business unless solicited, and I always try to push PM to those that are looking for help or advise. Tonight, Rick came through and said that he had turned to the internet for help with some hand calls. He mentioned PM and that was all that it took. He also got to meet another PM'er, S. McAlary. Again Rick, it was a pleasure to meet you, and I look forward to doing some hunting with you sometime.

The pleasure was all mine. Thanks for the advise on how to set up and shot gun shells you helped very much. And any time you want to hunt just haller.I'll be up that a way on the wma next week Im off til feb.
THANKS AGAIN

Hey Rick, Jefferys got a lot of advise to offer, especially if it has anything to do with getting stuck or catching a possum bare handed /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
