Oklahoma hunters

Hey guys... I found out that I won't be leavin' before the end of this month... But I may still have to leave one of these days... Did you guys give up on havin' a hunt in Honobia country??? Whats the scoop???

Cosmic cowboy , I dont know the thread just went cold for a few days im still up for a hunt even if its just for a sunday or something like that.I do a lot of turkey hunting in the Stapp Zoe area south of Heavner and see alot of predators down there each spring . It would just tickle me to death to go down there one sundy and hunt with a new face or faces. let me know if your interested or anyone else for the matter.

Hey, Im glad to see this revived. Tom you arent awful far from me, I live in clayton, we should try to get together sometime. Well like I said im glad to see this revived. GAME ON

Sam- That sounds good to me. I come through Clayton about once a month but always working. Never called down in that part of the world but I found enough coyotes hanging on a fence just after you take the Sardis exit off the turnpike to really get me interested. If you work in Clayton tell me where and I'll stop by and say hi, we'll try to work out a hunt of our own if no one else wants to have this one.

Did we decide on a date yet? I am going to the Tom Mix, this weekend. Post the date when you get it.

Tom64-

I live in Seminole, maybe we can caravan down to the hunt.

later pup

Tom, I dont work here in clayton. I work construction and travel quite a bit myself. However we can still get together. Im not scheduled to go back out until mid feb. Im glad to have run into someone from my neck of the woods. Hopefully we can meet when they schedule this hunt. Hope to see u soon take care.

I got this sunday off and would probally be able to go somewhere could probally bring a few with me . Let it get a little closer to the weekend and I will know for sure what my schedule looks like. What is yalls input on this date setting.

Well Sundays are not too good for me but if that's what everybody else agrees on I'll try to make it. This Saturday is good but short notice.
How about the 15th andor 16th or 22nd andor 23rd? Also I don't know how many will show but what about JAMES COLLINS wma.? It's 20,913 acres located about 30 miles NE of McAlester I've never called it but it looks good. I may make a trip over there this Saturday and check it out.
I'll let ya'll know. I'm just glad to get a chance to meet some people that love to shoot coyotes as much as I do. Let's hear what ya'll think and don't let it die out, we need your input to make this happen. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Count me in too for the Honobia Predator Hunt. I live right in the middle of One Creek Valley RD. I know this area pretty well and I know a few of my coon huntin neighbors will want to join in on this game. I probably could accomidate quarters for a few gentlemen. As far as dates, any Friday or Saturday works great for me. Sundays not so good, involved in church youth group. However I am flexible. Let's do it.

Hey ya'll... Good to see everybody wanting to go huntin'... Sundays would work the best for me... I could go this Sunday... Maybe... I'm like Travis... I'll know more as the weekend gets closer...

Hey Travis... You could meet me in Pocola and ride down there with me... I know how to get around down there... When you Turkey hunt in the Stapp-Zoe-Haw Creek areas, have you ever had any problems with some of the locals??? There is a bunch down there that don't like outsiders turkey huntin' in that part of the National Forest... Just curious... You can email me if ya want...

Take it easy...

Cosmic Cowboy,
I never had any trouble with locals as of exchanging words but I have had them or someone ride a fourwheeler inbetween me and the turkey a few times . Even had them cut betwwen me and the bird and run the bird off. I try to catch up with them every time it has happened but have yet to find them after they do this stuff.
Sunday could work for me as I said it needs to be closer to the weekend. we could meet in heavner (if we go ) where they keep the deer in the pen. I will probally have another hunter with me Dont know for sure yet. I ll keep you up dated

Hey Travis... What you were talking about is the kind of trouble I was talking about... My game warden friend is working to put a stop to this stuff... Don't worry... You ain't the first one to have trouble with the Haw Creek gang... They don't like outsiders in their neck of the woods (even if it is public land)... When I was a deputy, I had a guy tell me that some of that bunch scared off a gobbler he had called up... But the real kicker is this... The guy that was turkey hunting was on his own property... In other words the bad guy was tresspassing to spook the birds!!! He is lucky that wasn't my land... He would probably still be laying there... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif Should you decide to hunt in that part of the country again let me know and I'll give you some contact numbers, and if the bad guys decide to do something stupid, they will get some paper to remind them of the stupid things they did... The numbers I'll give you are direct lines to the game warden and US Forest Service law enforcement...

Let me see what my weekend holds and I'll know more in a day or so... I may have some household projects to take care of... If ya don't feel like drivin' to Honobia Country, I know a rancher here in Pocola that wants the coyote population on his farm thinned out... We can hunt there any time... The rancher says "the only things that are off limits to hunting on my place are hen turkeys and my cattle." /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif He hates coyotes and bobcats... Stay in touch...
