It just came to my attention that as of Jan 1st 05 anyone hunting fishing or trapping in Ok must have a $5.00 land legacy user license or something like that. Lifetime license holders are exempt. The money is to be used to buy more public hunting land.

Just thought I'd pass it along FWIW

The money is to be used to buy more public hunting land.

How can that possibly "sux"??? $5 to help buy public land versus paying $100 a day trespass fees in many states...............

When I bought my lifetime license it cost $400.00 for a combo fish/hunting license, the money was put into a trust fund and only the interest can be spent to buy land for public use. At the rate that Ok's gone up on tags and licenses my license pays for itself every 3 years or so.

If the money will be set up in the same fashion it will be a good plan but so many at the capitol want to "borrow" from every pocket it could very well "sux" we will see.

I agree Tom, I think it should be on a voluntary basis only like Wyoming's Access YES program. This is just another way to tax us on hunting.

My real concern is even if they do get enough money to buy land, I don't think they can mangage it. Hopefully, they won't run it like most WMA's around here and let everybody and their dog hunt the hell out of it.

I'm all for public land access but ther has to be some limits and restrictions to keep wildlife populatons high.
