Old traps

I have my grandfather's traps that I started trapping with this season. Have had some luck but I am wondering if the coil springs and long springs can get weak. These traps are over 40 years old. Any advice is appreciated.

YA they can get weak if they get real rusty. What kind are they, I would say the coils springs will be weaker then the long springs.

You can get replacement springs for them I replaced a couple dozen 2 years ago
