Olympic Arms AR's?

I had one, seemed like a good gun to me. I had the 16 inch heavy barrel, I sold it cause I found I just dont like AR's. It was real accurate and always worked. I am no AR expert.
Do a search it has come up here before.
I live about 10 miles from the factory.

I have one and so does a good friend (we went together and bought kits). They are 20 inch heavy barrels and they both shoot MOA out of the box.
What I don't like about them:
(1)The stock trigger is heavy and creepy, but then so are most ARs - I replaced mine with a Jewell.
(2)The free-float tube is knurled and it's sharp, I don't like that.
(3)The non-fluted 20 inch bull barrel is too muzzle-heavy and overweight for me to shoot comfortably while walking.

Now 2 and 3 were my own choice when buying, not Olympic's fault.

Olympic makes all of their own parts and does their own machine work, and they tend to be on the minimum end of the spec range, so you may find that some magazines won't drop free as easily as from a "sloppier" receiver. They also tend to have a chamber that's on the tight side. I have never had any problems with factory ammo and I use a small-base die when reloading, which works fine.

I had D-tech build me a fluted 20 inch SUM upper with a fluted free-float tube which corrected 2 and 3, and am using my Olympic lower with a Jewell trigger, which corrected 1, and I'm happy as could be with my Oly. It looks good, it's tight and it drives tacks out to 450 yards.
I'd buy another one over anything on the market, personally. If you bought their stripped lower and a good trigger you could put together a very nice rifle for a fair price. Lots of people run that knurled tube so you might like that, too.

This is the same rifle I originally had, except I chose the chromemoly barrel instead of stainless.

The story goes like this:
I was in the market for a AR15 this year. I did my research on RRA, Olympic Arms, and DPMS.
I went with the OA because I was able to get exactly what I wanted in a custom AR-15. Well after 12 weeks, my gun came ARRIVED. I went to my dealer to pick it up and immediatly compared the my k16 to a RRA, DPMS, Bushmaster. I could not find a flaw in any of the guns. They are all about the same in finish and fit. The ONLY difference was that I saved about $150 when you compared the prices. Plus the compared prices from the other guns were not as custom as my OA. I had all the sales people in my shop comare the guns. Two of them questioned mE with the purchase of the OA from day one. Well, they are regretting what they stated. They all like the gun. I went to the range immediatly and I am shooting .5 inch groups at 100 yds with three rounds. My OA has a nice clean finish, very good fit, takes several different brands of magazines, and no strange markings from the manufacturing process .

Final note:
I am very pleased with my K16. I know now that it was well worth the wait. I can not stress that enough. All I can say is that a lot of people speak some Stuff on the net, take it with a grain of salt. Do your research and by the gun that fits your needs.

Dtech will sell you a K16 with a trigger job and square up the whole rig for you all for one very low price of 629&, plus you get a hard case a sling and one 30 round clip. Can you say WWWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW

Love my K-16 and the price is nice. No complaints and the accuracy is scary. I'm currently at about the 1,500 round mark and I haven't had a hiccup from this rifle. I'll definetly second getting a trigger job done. It's a great rifle and my next one will be an Oly.
