olympic arms, bushmaster, or rock river arms?

I have Bushmaster "Super Duper Varmit Slayer" or whatever you want to call it.It's the 24" stainless heavy barrel. 2 stage trigger,comp.grip. It was the first AR-15 I ever owned or shot. It is a very accurate rifle.Shoot's 1/2" with most ammo. It'll shoot alot better with handloads. I don't think the extra barel length makes it more accurate but it does add a little velocity. I think 10fps. per inch.I was planning on using it as a coyote/ground hog gun,but after purchasing a Savage 22-250,it's now just for coyotes. Now I kinda wished I had a shorter barrel. R Guns has a DPMS 16" Heavy barrel flattop for $599,which looks like it would be a great coyote rifle. If bushmaster offerd on like it I would suggest them but a far as I know they don't. If you want to build on they also have lower recievers for $99(DPMS).I'm not advertising for them .It's just where I've found the best deal on those particular items.Whatever you buy,get a good trigger. The stock ar triggers are terrible. Well that's my 2 cents worth.

Dtech, I made the reference to the Wilson barrels being the ones that they produced for other major mfg'ers where they did all the work. The ones on the DPMS's rifle I have that shoot really well were blanks made to DPMS spec's and all the machining is done by DPMS. DPMS has not used Wilson barrels for a while now.

On our match rifles we used Krieger barrels. From the accuracy standpoint I want all I can get but Byron is correct on the minute of yote stuff. I have to watch myself as hunting rifle accuracy is not the same as what I expect.

I about 13 or 14 different AR rifles from all the factory mfg'ers in several configurations and they shoot well, with some much better than others. I don't think anyone can say that one is really better than the rest unless you get a bad one.

That's strange. I contacted DPMS about a month ago and at that time they were still using Wilson barrels. They did say that they were getting some of their chrome-moly barrels from Green Mountain.

DPMS doesn't do any of thier own machining, fluting or chambering on their barrels. They have a small lathe that they use, on a rare occasion, when they need a special barrel length but other than that, all of the machining is done by contractors.
