I am gonna buy an ar 15 soon and was wondering if the olympic arms rifles are any count. I am also considering a rock river or a dmps

I have an OLY K16. I love the gun, works perfectly, shoots .75 inch groups of 5 at 100 yds.
I also have an RRA 16 inch 6.8 upper, rra 16 9mm rifle. It works great also.

Do your research and stay with the KNOWN brands.

I've been in the military for almost 10 years now and am very familiar with ar rifles , m16 and m4 . have dealt with colt, FN , stag ,also smith and wesson . I just want to make sure i dont overlook any good brands before finally spending the money on one.

I just bought a DPMS the other day, my first AR-15.

I've been told it won't be my last.

The best shooting AR I have ever owned, was a Oly ultra-match. I'd even put it up against most custom AR's out there. That said, I probably own more RRA and Stag AR's than any brand at this time. The nice thing about today's AR, is that most companies turn out a good product. I'd say figure out what set-up you want and go with the company that has it. Good luck!

I keep telling myself that I need to get another ultra-match. Hopefully this is the year I get it done!

My oly has about 1000 rounds through it and has been flawless so far. I had to sort out a magazine problem when it came out of the box, other than that not one failure. Shoots close to MOA if I do my part, that's not too bad for a carbine.
That being said when I called Oly to get some help with the magazine problem, I would get shuffled to voice mail [beeep] and am still waiting for a return call, been about a year. I would give their service dept. about an F rating, lifetime warranty is worthless if they won't talk to you.

i seen a new k-16 for sale yesterday for 635.00 for the complete rifle thats pretty cheap for a nice rifle. alot of people shoot and like the olys Ron

I've got untold thousands of rounds through my OA. I never worry about hearing a bang after pulling the trigger and it's eaten anything I can jam in its throat.

Their base model used to sell for about $400, but I doubt that's the case now

The only thing about the Oly rifles is they make their magazine wells smaller than most. They say this is on purpose as they maintain tighter tolerances. You will find that non Mil-spec mags can be a little but harder to get in and out. I doubt you will need a quick mag change while hunting dogs.

I have a PCR-3 16" carbine that I bought about 6 years ago and it is my carry rifle for coyotes. It shoots bug holes at 100yds. I put a JP trigger in it and topped it with a Leupold and I love it. It shoots better than I can most days. It's fit and finish is on par with the best made rifles. Most AR builders are producing some real nice rifles. Look at all of them if you have the money to drop on an expensive one, get it. If you don't there are several AR's out there that will shoot as good or better for less than $1000. It's your preference. Go out and look at them and ask questions. In my opinion Oly's are [beeep] nice rifles. I have a DPMS and a RRA and they are all comparable to Oly.

Good luck

The first 2 ARs I owned were DPMS and I havent had issue one with either of them, there are some forums though where by listening to people talk you couldnt give a DPMS rifle away, I was in the market for a complete upper a couple months back and had considered a CMMG..so I ask around a little and found out some people love them other people hate them, in the end I realized its all just opinion(not fact)I would say if you want a Oly and feel good about them then more power to you.

I have had a few oly's and as said before it's hard to beat their ultra-match barrel, the rifle i have now is a bushmaster with a 20" ultra-match barrel RRA trigger and a bushnell 4200 2.5X10 scope. 1/2 MOA groups on my good days.
