Olympic Arms PCR-02

I have a friend who wants to get rid of this, about 40-50 rounds down the tube. I know the oly arms pcr stands for politically correct rifle, which has no threads for a brake or suppressor, however has a grove to use set screws for a brake.
Anyone have one of these or shot one? It's a 20" bull barrel with a flat top upper.

I can get a smoking deal on it, and it's cheaper than the build I was looking at.
Thanks in advance.

PCR-02 is not the model of the rifle. After the ban went into effect, Oly changed the labeling of their lowers to "PCR", and like you mentioned, it stands for "Politically Correct Rifle", but the -02 part is only the year it was produced (2002)

If you let us know what is stamped into the barrel just in front of the gas-block, we can give you a better idea of what it's worth.

That's the lower I'm still using (I replaced the trigger with a Jewell). It came with a black oxide SS bull barrel and shot sub-MOA. I had zero problems with it, it's a nice rifle. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
I replaced the upper with a D-Tech to get rid of some weight, it was a bit of a boat anchor for a carry rifle. That was my only complaint.

Mine has a nice trigger for a factory gun and has great accuracy for an out of the box gun. My Oly is an A2. Currently shopping for a stripped flat top upper to put all my stuff on. But, again, nice trigger and accurate.

Ok I have the gun in hand, only thing I can see (because of gas block) is 556. Very good condition, trigger is crisp and it's all black. Are there other number under the gas block I can't see? Anyhow...he sold it to me for $600.00 so I just had to take it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I am now a EBR owner...can't wait to shoot it. Gonna swap stock out with an ace arfx and now looking for a scope mount or should I buy the one he has which is a armalite one piece?

It's actually a 16" bull barrel.

What you have then is a K-16. It would have a chrome-moly, button-rifled, 1:9 twist, 16" barrel chambered in 5.56 x 45.

If your friend has an ArmaLite mount for a good price, buy it. They retail for $89.00.

The Armalite one-piece is a very decent mount. If you like the height of the scope, grab it. The Model One mount will get you 1/2" higher, if that would be better for you.

Yeah, that's a smokin deal. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Thanks for the information guys. So what kind of accuracy can I expect from this rifle? I need to order a one piece mount, unless you guys with ar experience suggest something else. I am 6'3 and have some long arms so I am not sure if I need a higher scope mount or what.

My stevens .223 is a 1x9 twist and really likes the 55 gr ammo, with that rifle and my new ebr, has anyone noticed better or worse accuracy going lighter or heavier bullets?

THanks for all the help.

I shoot a K16 with a 4-14X50 Truglo on a BSquare one piece mount. Consistantly sub MOA with Hornaday Varmint Express 55gr Vmax - other brands I have tried, not so much, allthough I have not tried them all. I am very pleased with mine and the Coyotes don't much like it.

Mine is a shooter too. I got a great deal earlier this year for $599 brand new. So $600 is a good deal. I threaded a sling stud in the tube and mounted a Simmons AETEC on top of a set of Burris Tactical xtra high mounts. Shoots 55grn. bullets under .75 at 100 yds. Would agree that a trigger job or a drop in would be nice compliment to these guns, but it is still more accurate then I can shoot right now. Good luck on not wanting another one. I am looking for another one now.
