Over on an AR 15 forum there are pages of negative replies. Everything I have read here has been good. I wonder why the differences? I was considering the k-8.

Well it is all brand preference. They have a lifetime warranty and there are lots of guys who own here and love them. I just had Dtech build me an AR with OLY parts and even though I have only put 75 rounds down the tube it has shot a couple of great groups already. I am still trying to tweak the loads for better accuracy.

Some of them are like that because they are homers for the big three and apparently are super tactical operators. There are a few guys there who are constantly using information about Oly from 10 yrs. ago when Oly had QC problems before the AWB. You can see this in the quotes these chosen few put up every time Oly is mentioned. There are a couple of haters there and people tend to follow the herd so you have a bunch of people ragging on a gun they haven't had the pleasure to shoot. It's kind of a bummer because they have a wealth of knowledge of the AR platform over there. Some of their members feel a rollmark makes the gun but that just ain't the case. Go Oly and have a high quality gun without breaking the bank. My .02 cents. Proud owner of an Oly K-16 ( but I'm not uber tactical or low drag so what do I know??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif)

Yeah AR15.com is pretty negative on Oly stuff, but they all like RRA, you know cause the DEA uses them. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

Want to know from those that own them.....

www.oa2.org

It's an OLY owners' forum

If there are any problems with any issues, you'll see them there.

Oh year...one other thing
At one point or another just about every big name has purchased parts from OLY...or copied their designs.
Ever heard of pistol caliber AR's, flat tops...yep Oly designs....and a boat load more.

There are 'bad' examples of every thing out there, it appears that some just won't let it go from Oly. Too bad. I think they have a good product.

as an aside, the most problematic peice of equipment I had purchased was a RRA stripped lower.... go figure... but you won't hear me bad mouthing them, as I have had good stuff from them too!

I will say I've heard more good things from olympic barrels than I have any other brand. The only negitive thing I have on them is I orded a 243 wssm upper from them on march 15th and I still havent got it. And when I called them they said they couldnt even give me a date on which it would be shipped out. Time will tell if it's worth the wait.

The story goes like this:
I was in the market for a AR15 this year. I did my research on RRA, Olympic Arms, and DPMS.
I went with the OA because I was able to get exactly what I wanted in a custom AR-15. Well after 12 weeks, my gun came ARRIVED. I went to my dealer to pick it up and immediatly compared the my k16 to a RRA, DPMS, Bushmaster. I could not find a flaw in any of the guns. They are all about the same in finish and fit. The ONLY difference was that I saved about $150 when you compared the prices. Plus the compared prices from the other guns were not as custom as my OA. I had all the sales people in my shop comare the guns. Two of them questioned mE with the purchase of the OA from day one. Well, they are regretting what they stated. They all like the gun. I went to the range immediatly and I am shooting .5 inch groups at 100 yds with three rounds. My OA has a nice clean finish, very good fit, takes several different brands of magazines, and no strange markings from the manufacturing process .

Final note:
I am very pleased with my K16. I know now that it was well worth the wait. I can not stress that enough. All I can say is that a lot of people speak some Stuff on the net, take it with a grain of salt. Do your research and by the gun that fits your needs.

To bad, you don't have that [Hoss], yet Kempf. As soon as you get her a field to do some long-range T-shootin. You'll forget about the long wait /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Tough to beat the value of an Olympic Arms K16 - They shoot well and they don't dig into your checking account balance as bad as some of the other AR's.

I ordered mine in 243WSSM on March 8, what I was told, when I called and asked "why they said two weeks and it has been two months?" "The Demand for all AR parts is so high right now because of the proposed AWB folks are ordering them now before they cannot get tham at all." And the oly barrel line lost four or five people, for some reason unspecified. The guy I have been talking to in sales told me he starte on the barrel line and has been doing eight hours in the office then four or five in the plant trying to get them caught up and new people trained on the machines. So the delays have a legitamate excuse. Tlak to any one in the AR industry thay (if they are honest) will not give a firm delivery date, because this supply and demand problem is industry wide.Oly stuff is good and they make all the stuff in there own plant so there is no issue of poor quality due to an overrun purchase. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif If you have gotten an Oly rifle or upper in a timely manner be happy and enjoy it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif
