my son is getting a hand me down Rossi .22&20 ga.from his pap.gun is about six years old..can i get a barrel in 223 for this or do i need to buy the kit in pairs???

the rossie's are more or less built one at a time so the barrels are not interchangable from one gun to the next. they need to be a set so to speak. I bought one for the grandkid with the 22 20 gauge and 243 barrel, the 22 was a tackdriver the 243 was a pos and shot about 10" at 100 yrds.
I couldn't sell it fast enough.

Ten inches at 100 yards? man I hope the Rossi I just got my six year old boy tonight is not that bad. Did you just sell the .243 barrel or the whole gun?

Did you work up loads or experiment?

I got the Rossi for him because he is right handed but left eye dominant and I don't know what to do about it. He can shoot all three barrels right or left handed.

Bought a Rossi 308 for my son when he turned 12 as his first deer gun. Was very accurate but as the season went on it started to get light primer strikes and not fire. Needless to say, this had a 12yo very frustrated. Got rid of it and got a Savage 308 and never looked back. 15 deer, 3 antelope, and 1 elk in 6 years, leaves a happy 18yo young man.

I never did try to load anything for the rossi but i did try every factory load possible. we did try everything else to make this barrel shot and no luck.

I have one in 223 first two shots dead on target but

the third shot is always a flyer. Ive tried many different

types of ammo and different techniques but nothing changes.

I have a Rossi (heavy barrel) 22-250. It has been a very accurate and reliable rifle. Factory trigger is pretty light. Good barrel twist. I've killed a lot of ground hogs with it. I really have no complaints about the rifle at all.

Maybe I got lucky...

I have a Rossi .22LR/.410GA combo gun. It is ok for a youth starting out shooting for the first time. For anything beyond that, I wouldn't recommend one. The .22LR is accurate, but it is just not a well built rifle in my opinion.
