Wanting to know what would you guys consider the better quality ones are? I guess when I say better I am looking at what ones are made to tighter tolerances and when put together they fit well.

Thanks guy's.

As for tight tolerances, look at matched billet upper/lower sets. Anything else is just "close enough to function"

Forged I've had noveske, seekins, jd machine, dpms, and spikes. Noveske and seekins were the best out of all the ones I had as far as finish its a toss up on upper fit. Billet is the way to go.

I just got a Quinten Defense billet upper/ lower matched set. I am very impressed my smith said he may not even need to true the face on this upper. Plus they look so good together.

I've had Noveske, Rock River, DPMS, Seekins Billet, Aero Precision, Palmetto State and more. The name brand receivers are easier to sell and you get more for them, but you pay more to begin with. So IMO, it's all a push. I finally got over what roll mark is on the lower and now have only no name lowers with Geiselle triggers and Noveske barrels. That's where the real difference is.

In the end, they all hold the LPK where it's supposed to be held and you never know what the fit between upper and lower is going to be until you bolt 'em together.

Amen!!! That said, if you don't mind paying the extra $$$ for a perfectly fitting upper/lower (knowing that a cheap no-name will likely shoot just as well) Billet, as said above, is really the best way to go. Nemo Arms (formerly SI Defense) turns out a really nice matched billet upper/lower, the best I've ever had. But I sold that set up, and put the $$$ into a good barrel and trigger for a regular old forged Spikes lower and Mega Arms upper, and haven't regretted it for a second.

I would go forged and use tension take down pins if the slop bothers you. You dont gain anything with billet but a different look to the gun and a lighter wallet. Billet parts have the little added beef to them cuz billet is weaker than forged. The lower is just a housing, you dont loose or gain accuracy one way or the other, one brand to the next.

I have probably built more on RRA and Bushmaster lower(Spikes is close to) they come together pretty good for me, but you know that old saying there all the same just different roll marks.

Love my spikes that I got for 115. It fit my POF upper like it was made for it! I'll never buy another complete rifle....building is too much fun.

Specialized Dynamics has Billet Lowers. The SD lower has tension bolt built in so you dont have any slop. It is personal preference I like the billet lower cause they look cleaner to me. As stated above the accuracy comes from the trigger and a good barrel.

I love my mega forged upper/lower and they have a proprietary bolt with a nylon tip that threads up through hand grip that tightens up the upper/lower, but they are tight without it. All of my future builds will be mega.

Bison Armory sells matched forged uppers and lowers for 265.00. Hes also a 6.8 forums sponsor. Have seen nothing but good things said about his matched sets. He also sales mega billets but I dont remember the price.

I agree that barrel and trigger is the most important thing in a build followed by a good set of optics and a quality BCG if youre shooting anything over 223 cal.

For the most part, a forged stripped lower is a forged stripper lower. Most won't be much different than the next. Billets get extra features added in typically like billet trigger guards, no roll pins required for bolt catch assembly, etc. Typically Billet lowers are substantially more expensive due to the extra machine time required to manufacturer them.

We just released these Spartan15 Billet Lowers late last year:

JBO Spartan 15 Billet Lower Receiver

Current pricing is $119.95 w/ free shipping which is a very competitive price for a billet lower!

i use aero blem lowers on all my builds. Personally they function 100% and used to be 40 bucks each. I dont build my ar's for the glass case so a nick or a ding in some spot that will prob get it when i have it behind my seat doesnt bother me.

AS said above save the money and put it towards a trigger barrel and optics (should you choose to run anything other then irons)
