one way to trap bobcats (and everything else)

Git yourself a chicken, and put the chicken in a box trap with the the door closed. Feed and water the chicken, he will be in there all night. Set a leghold or snare trap on 2 corners of the cage. The bobcat will simply step in the traps as he is circling the caged chicken. This also gives you a great bowhunting, or airgun hunting opportunity.
sweet, simple, effective.

Good hunting

Years ago my cousin was seeing a lot of coyotes while deer hunting. He bought one of the large hav-a-heart style traps and put a wild rabbit in it. The rabbit ended up killing itself trying to get out so my cousin bought a tame rabbit that was used to being in a cage. I never thought he would be able to pull it off, but he brushed in the trap really well and ended up catching 7 coyotes. I told him to try a chicken, but he never did.

Better check your State laws, some do not allow “live bait” for trapping. Every state is different, so check your States trapping laws.

Doublelung, if your cousin is cage trapping coyotes, then he’s the man. We’ve caught everything but a coyote in cage traps, but never a coyote. I know some states only allow cage traps, but not sure about live bait.

That was years ago. I don't think he even hunts anymore. I wouldn't have believed him if he hadn't shown me. I think the "secret" was that he wove sticks, limbs, grass, etc into the wire very good, even the bottom of the trap was dirt and grass. It literally looked like a log.

That’s quite an accomplishment. Getting a yote to walk into a cage. That said saw a picture of one in a hog trap, caught on corn. Years ago I did a great deal of guiding we shot a bunch walking roads eating corn.
