I had been out turkey hunting this past spring season, in South Central PA, and I called in a coyote with my turkey call. I caught a movement about 80-90 yards away and seen it was a coyote. I lip squeaked it to maybe 30 yards. I had a 12 gauge with a real tight choke pointed at it as it was headed straight for me. It stopped and looked at me and realized I was not a mouse or turkey and took off. I was hoping it would come in another 15 or more yards because I only had 6 shot in my gun. Does anyone have experience with turkey loads on coyotes? I didn't want to wound it or educate it in hopes to come back with my rifle. Would 6 shot put a coyote down at 30-40 yards from an extremely tight choke do you think? Thanks for any feedback.

I'd have shot it with that load at that range! It would have been deader than dead!

With my 12 ga and 6 shot, tight turkey choke, 30 yard head shot, piece of cake, Texas heart shot ? Only with TSS

if you do happen to target predators with a shotgun on purpose, use # 4 buckshot, drops coyotes, fox and bobcat dead out to 45 or 50 yards

oh yeah...works on raccoons too

I have killed 1 while gobbler hunting with Fed. copper plated 6 broadside at about 30. My shotgun coyote load is Win XR BB which just hammers 'em to 45.

30 yards with a stiff turkey load of #6 through a turkey choke? I'd take that shot and bet against the coyote.

30yds, yeah that would be a dead coyote with regular ole turkey loads. Killed them at 50 with #9 TSS out of a 20ga.
