Does anybody have any experience with Charles Daily shotguns? I have been looking at them for some time. Any info would be appreciated.

I have a Youth model 20ga auto I "bought for the wife". It doesnt get used a ton lately, but I used to use it alot for rabbit and now my neice uses it for pheasant etc.
Personally I love it, No major malfunctions goes bang every time.

Alot of people have had problems with the semi autos, and ordinarily I would not have gotten it, but the price was just way too good, uner 200 bucks barely used.

Hope this helps

Dave

hi a friend of mine has one, its an automatic single shot, it jams all the time. he sent it in to be repaired and it came back in the same condition

"hi a friend of mine has one, its an automatic single shot"

What is an automatic single shot? Not trying to be smart; just want to know. I have seen some daly shotguns at wallyworld at reasonable prices and am also curious.

Thanks

An automatic single shot is a auto that fails to cycle do to poor disgn or fowling or to light of loads. Many inexpensive gas autos fail to work right!

My buddy has one and he likes it, but I think it fails to kick out light loads. Duck loads do cycle through it. I would buy a used berretta AL 390 or 391. You can get them for 300-400 bucks and will be better than a new Daily IMHO.

the semiauto one i had would not feed any ammo under $10 a box & i was not going to spend any more than that when i have a pump and o/u that shoots anything i feed them

my buddy had one of the pumps and has alot of ejecting and feeding issues, to the point he has to break it down almost everytime we go shooting clays

i would try a mossberg or remmington i see alot of them used that come close to the price of the new CDs

I have a Hatsan Escort 12ga that is close to the quality of the Dailey. Its a great shooter as long as you dont shoot target loads. Worked awsome this waterfowl season and Im going to try to take a wise old tom turkey this spring with it. If you want a inexpensive shotgun the Dailey will be a good work horse.

The wife bought me a 20guage semi-auto and I guess I got a good one because it has never malfunctioned in, I'm guessing 300rds or so. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif And thats with everything from Turkey loads to light field loads.

The shotguns seem good. Had one years ago i used for clays. Was fine till front beed came off...had to use a piece of gum as a bead to finish out the day. (This gun was an old gun tho and well used when that happened). I liked mine.

I bougtht a 20ga for my son, and a 12ga for myself (the cheap ones from walmart).

The 20ga has never skipped a beat.....does fine.

The 12ga has never functioned properly.....does terrible.

If I had just bought one of the 2 above, I would tell you they are great, or terrible, just depends which one I would have gotten.

Best I can tell you now is you get what you pay for, and could get lucky and get a good one, or unlucky and get one of the troubled ones.

I have a Like New Miroku Side by Side Charles Daly made in the the 70's and it is one nice quality made shotgun. I just don't believe the Charles Daly made today are of the same quality. The CZ's are a better buy in my opinion than the present Charles Daly guns. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I have one of the syn. stocked 20's from Walmart, it's worked well for me for years.

It's not the most beautiful gun, nor is it of impeccable quality, but serviceable enough, imo.

Look for a Stoger mad in the same factory Benelli is made same inertial action design too for about the same or just a bit more than Chrales Daily

my brother has a 20 gauge and it works fine. he has shot slugs through it and had reasonable accurracy for a smoothbore with rifled slugs at 50 yards. never misfired or anything with any loads.

I would definately look at the Stoeger over the Charles Daly shotgun. Speaking with my gunsmith, he told me he gets more Charles Daly shotguns in his shop that dont work, than any other gun. of course he also said he wont work on the Remingon 7600 semi auto shotguns either, cuz he thinks they are junk. I havent shot a Charles Daly shotgun, but havent heard many good things.

stoeger m2000 semi, look into em, awesome semis!!!

very fine quality for the money i traded for one in 12ga
it was camo turkey gun with 5 chokes i think. shot everything from cheap light loads to turkey loads no problem!

i think i got it $325ish after trade it was unfired in box but considered used.

As far as I know, Charles Daly has never manufactured any guns, but has imported many different brands of widely varying quality. Quality has slipped from the days of the B.C. Mirokus to what has the Daly name these days. If your not set on getting a low cost, getting started sort of a shotgun, I would look at something a bit better.

A young boy dove hunted with us this past year and used a Charles Daly auto. As others have posted it never fed anything after the first shot. The litle guy had to cycle every round by hand. We took it apart and it was missing parts in the gas system.
Cheap is cheap for a reason.
