Opinions needed for a short range rifle

Just wanted to get some opinion's from you all on what would be a decent optic to get for 2 ARs that I have.
Both are 16" barrel rifles my wife and daughter will be using for deer hunting here at home.
One is a 300 BO and the other is a 350L
I don't need big magnification by any means as both of them will probably not shoot over 100-150 yards.
I have some low end cheaper optics on the 300BO now and what I don't like is the thick duplex crosshair.
On the cheap Bushnell that is on it now when trying to sight the rifle in at 100 yards the crosshair covers the entire 2" target spot and it makes it a bit hard to see clearly.
I am not as versed on the LVPO style optics that are more of a norm for a short distance AR and was hoping some of you might be able to point me in some direction for them.
Not looking to spend a ton on something for these rifles as they wont get used as much as most of our other rifles in the safe.

Here's a good article on the subject. Since here in SC we can shoot up to an hour after sunset my main concern would be light gathering. Also, keep in mind that ultra fine crosshairs are harder to see in low light.

Personally, most of my stands are set up for shots 100 or less and I like a quality 2.5x10 or 3x9 x 40 or larger.

I have a 4-12 Vortex (diamondback) on one of my Blackouts, works well. Extra magnification for target or longer range stuff. Ya never know when you need it. Might look at Arkin, they are getting good reports. Liked my Nikon better than the Vortex but it broke and no replacement. Shot BO this morning, adj. scope for 135 FTXs ( left side of target - POA between 7,8). Dang hot today.

On short range predator hunting scopes for me FOV is king, same on my deer rifles for still hunting.

I have on my rifles.
Bushnell Elite 4500 1-4x24mm duplex(2)
Athlon Argos 2-12x42mm BDC(2)
Leupold VX-3 1.5-5x20mm duplex
Leupold Freedom 1.5-4x20mm PigPlex
Sightron S1G2 1.75-5x32 duplex

These are all currently available scopes that I like for under 300 yards.

Do you like variables? 2-7x would be my choice in variable. Had a pet 308 for hunting for years and had on it a 2 3/4x Redfield I got new about 1971 or so. That scope is now on my 30-06, my elk rifle! For your family. Hunt on 2x and zero in up at 6 or 7x. Had a 1-4x Redfield and didn't like it. At 1x I could see almost all the rifle barrel! Really distracting so when I did use it, it was set on 3x.

Most of my rifles I can see the barrel, it is no different than a stick or weed. Shoot them enough and you forget it. What you lose by leaving a 1-4 scope on 3x is over half the useable FOV and there is rarely time to turn a scope down for a close in shot and usually plenty of time to turn one up for longer shots.
