Opinions on 2 low end .243s

[beeep] it, This thread went to [beeep] already.

For those with helpful answers, Thank you, I'm going try to locate a shop with a Howa so I can handle one.

Gary,

HANG IN THERE BUD !!!

I know that someday your quest for finding that perfect rifle will come to an abrupt end ... and you will find yourself standing there holding onto a Ruger 77/22 Hornet .

Good luck.

Simmer down chief, it'll be okay. I promise

I think handling them both would be a great idea Gary. You know I've nothing bad to say of Howas. As for the Marlin, I've handled new ones but never shot one. They seem to me like they might not be a bad rifle for the price, unlike the Mossberg.

I think either rifle would not be a bad choice. Like I said, I know a lot about Howas, but I'd not hesitate to give the Marlin a test drive if you like it........

Nope, no more small cases for me. I've got some arthritis in my hands (yea I didn't Beleive it either) and those small cases are just a PITA for me to work with.

I just need a rifle to stay in the back seat of my car or behind the seat of the truck. Trying to find the best bang for the buck.

Ken- I'm gonna load a few up for my Gfs rifle, shoot it and play with it a little bit. And I'm gonna try to locate a Howa too. I know Howa actions seem to be well thought of but I wasn't too sure about the rifle as a whole. As I don't want to replace the stock, buy an aftermarket trigger, etc. just want to take it outta the box, shoot some krypton to it, slap a 2-7 Redfield on top and park it.

Awww, for cryin out loud.

Foxy, YOU'RE the one that used to cry and moan about some guys "wearing their hearts on their sleeves".

It's not like it's a big *secret* you've bought and sold the same friggin gun in just a short time (more than once) here. It's no biggie man. Just slightly funny. No harm.

EDIT. Forgot. Yeah Howa.

DC- heart on the sleeve I do not wear, this is however about the 3rd or 4th time you have addressed the number of guns I sell. I'd like to know what it is to you? The same gun? I've never bought two of the same gun? Show me where? Yea I've bought a couple glocks, but no two were the same. I've bought the same chamberings before but not in the same configuration of rifle, so once again....what's it to you?

Ken- not a fan of hogues but as a compact truck gun, that Howa dosent look to shabby.

You can rest assured every gun I sold I had a reasion for doing so, whether it was, not using it, needing money or wanting something different, I had a legit reason.

Sure no harm no foul, w/e you wanna call it but for someone who dosent line a redundant thread you seem to like ragging on my gun history over and over and over.

I have a LOT of gun history you guys can rag on if you want

Don't sweat it man, he was only foolin' with ya. Lighten up, who gives a $hit.....

Very well said.

He's just a guy with nothing better to do them rag on your gun buying/selling habits. But one thing I do know, in doing so, you have come back to exactly what you want, and why you want it. To he ll with what these other guys say.

The Howa rifles are nice. The hogue takes some getting used to, but is doable. If you're used to Mickeys and such, then no, it's not a great stock. I had one for a while, it's rifle shot well with it, it is heavy though. But they're nice and grippy, especially when wet.

I'm not knocking the Marlin, but I think the Howa has it here. If you ever decide, sometime, to do some work to the Howa, it will be much easier.

Nobody needs to justify their gun trading/purchasing habits to anyone. Lord knows I would have a hard time doing it. Their was a time when my house was nothing more than a revolving door of guns going in and out. Trying out new toys is what it's all about. Some are keepers, some ain't........

go with the howa i have 2 alnd love them both the axiom stock is ughly but my 6 yo can just bout shoot it. foxy if u dont mind drivin hour or so you can shoot mine.

Guess I'll take your word on this.

Ummm maybe. But don't think so. If I did, I don't remember doing it. Can you show me where I did?

I'd like to know what it is to you?

Your buying and selling is nothing to me, but thanks for asking.

The same gun? I've never bought two of the same gun? Show me where? Yea I've bought a couple glocks, but no two were the same. I've bought the same chamberings before but not in the same configuration of rifle ....

I think you know I didn't mean "two of the same gun". But in case you didn't, the *funny* was the fact that you have bought a gun and shortly there after it is for sale in the classifieds. It's been mentioned more than once by others. You, yourself, even had a sig line for awhile that eluded to something of the sort.

No need to justify your reasons to me or anybody else. Honestly, I don't care.

Again, can you show me where I "like ragging on your gun history over and over and over." I just don't remember ever doing it. If I did, I assure you it was in fun. Never "ragging". Of course my definition of ragging and yours could be very different.

You might just wanna step back and take another look at that heart on shirt sleeve thing.

It's all good foxy. I ain't out to "get ya". Really.

Of course you had to post. You post on darn near EVERYTHING.

And that's OK. You are kinda like me. A guy with nothing better to do.

Carry on.

DC honestly no hard feelings , like you I don't care, and in the last 4 years I've been selling guns I'm not gonna go search down every thread you an I posted in trying to find it. You're just a hard guy to read.

That's "Howa" it is.

It's true, I have not too much going on right now. I'm waiting on my paperwork to head off to Korea for a year. I do post a bunch, on topics that I have some knowledge or experience. I do notice that some tend to choose to clown on the OP or his topic, without any actual response to the question at hand. But, as you say, carry on.

Gary,

Don't forget about the Wetherby Vanguards. They're the same action, and have a decent injection molded stocks, adjustable triggers. They may be a good option.
