Opinions on 2 low end .243s

EMT- I actually wouldn't mind taking you up on that offer- 1 hour away? Morehead?? I'm guessing?

204- never heard of cal Ranch stores?

RB- wait for it.......... I HAD a 200 in .243 back when they first came out. It wasn't a bad rifle at all, just kinda like to try something different.

Matte metal and syn ?

Yes, Tim. I could get you one, but idk when I'm leaving. PM Kevin, he may be able to get ya one. 308 BF, right?

Thanks for the offer Shane.
My first choice is a SS action(the smooth finish), second is an older blued action. Third would be matte/sps finish.

Yep .308 BF ...

Hey pahnter760,

I heard there is a CAL Ranch store somewhere in the SLC area.

I also heard they have pretty decent prices on firearms.

I could be wrong though, and then someone will post about my posts and such hahaha

If you adjust the trigger on it be careful as it is easy to make it too light.
Some loads that work well in my Marlin .243 Win;
Sierra #1540 100g SP(?) 39.5g H414 CCI BR2 COL 2.650"
Sierra #1540 39.2g Accurate 4350 Rem 9&1/2 COL 2.675"
95g Nosler/ Win.Silvertip 40g Accurate 4350 CCI BR2 COL 2.700"

If you have any of these combinations, please double check load data from book. I made notes of these loads because they were acceptably accurate for a deer hunting rifle. Just thought it might save you time, but like I said double check data...I never push past published data but some of these may be near max...I don`t recall.

Ding ding ding!!!!! Winner, Winner!!!! I was waiting for someone to post this. I have the Stevens 200 in .243. The trigger is workable to under 4 lbs. But with a Raifle basix you're on to a darn good truck gun.

I used to reload for it 39.0 Benchmark and 55grn NBTs. But since I tried the Hornady Superformance, there's no point. Extremely tight groups.

My buddy's Howa in .22-250 is a riot to shoot as well and I also just picked up the Vangurad S2 in 7mm RM.

Can't go wrong with any of the rifles you mention. Decisions, decisions....

I'll bang the Howa gong also!

Smooth actions, excellent extractors, easy to adjust triggers and they plain ole shoot!

Check out CDNN, I think they have a model for around $340 right now.

I own a Marlin XL7 in 25-06 and I'm very happy with it. It's light, comfortable to shoot, and accuracy is good. I also have a Weatherby Vanguard in .257 weatherby that I'm very fond of. Of the 2, the Vanguard is the one I'd pick. Cabela's had some of the weatherbys on sale for $339 if there is one close to you.

Update- went to my local shop today and they had this Howa on the shelf. It was a .223 but still have me an idea as to how they felt. I could live with it I suppose but I wasnt too crazy over it...course it's a 400$ gun and all.....i think Im just gonna hold off a bit and try to score a good deal on a 700 ADL

here was the howa
