Hey everyone, I have a friend who is trying to get a hold of some hunting items of mine and he wants to trade me a Remington XP100R in .22-250 with a Burris pistol scope.

Can anyone tell me if you have hunted with it or some general info about the accuracy, fit and function?

Any opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks, Joel

Thanks guys.

Another question... I didn't ask him, but what is the barrel length and rate of twist for the .22-250 version?

Thanks, Joel

Jack... the repeaters came from the custom shop - much better barrels and stocks.

Though I am sorry I sold my 221 single shot all the time.

It does have the McMillan stock on it. Just thought that I would add that bit of info.

He hasn't shot it very much too; he picked it up at a gunshow back in Sept./ Oct. last year.

I didn't think they made any in 22-250 from the custom shop. I bet that's an other-than-custom-shop custom rig, especially with the McMillan stock.

I have a bunch of specialty pistol bolt rigs, all customized. The XP-100 action was the choice of SP shooters looking for the best (affordable) accuracy from a SP (although a buddy of mine has a factory Savage Striker that's incredibly accurate).

I had an XP-100, from the custom shop, and it had a McMillan rear grip stock, repeater, chambered in 250-3000 Savage. Custom shop is just that, Custom!

The last years of the XP Rem made the XP-100R I got one in 223 they offered them in limited calibers and they came with a McMillian stock and I think they ran around $400/500.

They fit the model 7 stock perfect if wanting to change it over to a rifle. I forgot to add the barrels were 14" long.

I might add there was very little interest in this model XP reason the quit making them. These were a production gun as far as I know but could of been assembly in the custom shop.

Yeah, I looked it up on their website, but it wasn't very helpful other than telling me the year it was made.

Thanks for letting me know the barrel length roper.

Well I decided to trade with my friend and got the XP100R in .22-250 from him.

Took it to the range and you're right CatShooter... it screams! I shot it twice before putting earplugs in... just to see how bad it was. Wow it's loud!!

Shooting his reloads with a Burris 2-7 scope on it I was consistently getting 2 out of 3 shots at 1/4" @ 100 yds. I kept getting a flyer, but could have been me. The best group I fired so far was 7/8". Not bad for trying it out with 20 mph crosswinds.

Let me know if anyone has any load data that uses a 52 grain pill... that's what it likes (friend said). I'm guessing it has a 1-12" twist.

Thanks, Joel
