Wow Cris,I thought I was the only one that called with the wind on my back!I learned a long time ago that is the only [95%] direction a midwest coyote will come in.I already know that,so I just give it to them.I think when they feel everything is in their favor,they let their feet out run their nose,or let their guard down easier.I normally don't even argue the point to most people because they have been taught or shown to always call into the wind.I normally carry a rifle that shoots flat[17Rem,204,22-250].With the wind at your back it lets the wind carry your call farther,plus you don't have to worry about wind drift of your bullet as much as you would if they are trying to circle you.Like I said earlier,the guy that made the liver and onions argument,made since to me,at the time.The longer I have hunted dogs,I realize that isn't the case with canines.I also like your Burger King description of a canines sense of smell. I agree with what Rednecks comment was,I just think if it gives me a slight edge at times,it's worth it.It's cheap and easy,just stinky.I have skinned enough coyotes,and mink,stinky doesn't bother me too much.
