2x7 would be a good choice , 1x4 would work also . 300 yrds does not require a lot of power . I prefer a 1x4 that allows you a huge field of view for the up close stuff as well . Burris is a great scope for the money and have done right by me for a number of years now . I torture the heck out of my equipt and have yet to be let down by the Burris regardless of temps or how hard i beat them up on 4 wheelers Etc. High power scopes and calling just dont go hand in hand unless your calling BIG open country or you have aquired the knack of finding a moving coyote with a small field of vision .
