Out of Business... (temporarily I hope)

Krusty Kriers Predator Calls (me) is going to be out of business for a while while I move my shop to another location, I have been very busy getting my house ready for inspection, and have fallen way behind on orders.

I will be sending out a few e-mails to those of you waiting for calls you've already paid or traded for, and then letting some of you on the waiting list know about the delay... all my shipping has been in storage for about a month so that's why some of you haven't seen things I promised to ship a long time back.

I'll have all this stuff finished in a couple weeks and then open up the shop again and get back to producing calls.

Thank you all for your patience,

Jeff

Gramps,

The snail mail is the same for now, but may not be for long...

I hope my landlord doesn't end up selling my house or raising the rent too much, then I would be moving for sure.

HMMMMMMMM Me to
Krusty I sent you about 25-30 maple blanks back in july (free) haven't receive anything according to our agreement. I haven't seen or heard from you, and very few posts. If you are having trouble producing the calls, you could send the remaining blanks back. I'd like to give another call maker a chance to make a few calls in exchange for blanks.
Krusty please let me know what you'd like to do. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

If anyone is looking for custom calls, Lynn Jacobson AKA (coyote 1516) makes a really fine call. I think he's a little modested about being revealed, but he makes a darn nice call.
Sorry Lynn /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Still waiting for my K call too.

Not a problem Bud. I am making some nice calls out of the flame maple you sent. Really nice wood and a pleasure to turn. I appreciate your willingness to sell me some. It was well worth the cost. If you still have some I would encourage anyone to try it for turning calls on the lathe. He has other woods too.

And... For the interest of others-- I mentioned to Bud that I was using some of his flame maple
to make calls to be used as prizes in a youth calling contest this November. I needed about 30+ calls for the kids. Bud sent me another package of wood with specific instructions that it was to be used for the kids and there would be no charge for it. I don't want to identify him as a source of free wood but his gift was very much appreciated and speaks to the kind of guy he is. Thanks Bud.

Hey Krusty, good to hear you are doing okay, I was beginn' to wander what happened to ya. Take care..

Cheers /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Lance,

As I posted everthing I have ready to ship had to be put in storage temporarily while I shuffle my life around... I have a call for you in a box, and I will send it in the next week or so (if possible).

Randy,

I thought, after as long as I waited for the money from you, you'd understand...
I am waiting for some calls to be paid for (have been ever since we agreed on our deal), and then I will have the capital to send your money, sorry for the delay.

Bud,

You are correct, I did end up with about 18 blanks, four of which I am going to send back to you in the form of calls (as agreed), one that's going to Australia (in trade for the button whistles) and some of the rest have or will be traded for calls.
Lance has one of them, and Lynn has one also... in my box of shipping are boxes for Travis Alzate (Coyote Creek Calls), one for Walt Betts (WB Customs), and one for Marc (LONEHOWL Calls).
This accounts for 15 of the blanks... if you like I can send back what wood I have left.
The flame maple is very hard to work by hand, and the calls are taking a lot longer to produce then I first thought.
I also have been too poor to order reeds for the closed reed calls (two of your were going to be open and two closed), the bodies are all roughed out they just need finishing.

I am not posting as much because my home computer crashed, and I no longer have access to the internet.
I tried to send you word of what was going on with me, but the e-mail came back as undeliverable.

Again I am sorry for the miscommunication.

LJ,

I am afraid when my computer crashed it took my list of call orders with it, that's why you seem to have been forgotten.

At least I saved the package from every call order or trade I made... I have all your snail mail addresses, and as soon as I get a better handle on my outta control life, I'll get the orders I have pending finished.

FALfire,

Thanks for your concern, I wish all was doing "okay", but I am not... I will eventually catch up I hope, but everyday has been a struggle for me lately.

Some days you wag the dog... some days the dog wags you...
It's all part of being a tail.

Well I have used up most of my library time posting this, I'll try to get to a computer again as soon as I can.

Take care all! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Krusty,
I waited to post but after seeing some of the other posters hadn't gottin their calls I got a little concerned. As long as the swap is still ok and your making the calls then lets just continue as of the original agreement. No need to send any of it back...OK
Hope things get better for you and pull things together if you can, cause theres folks out here that want your calls.

Good luck and take care........ /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Krusty, Hope everything turns out okay for you. Not to badger. Just that time of the year when I have lots of people and customers to deal with and trying to stay on top of old deals that are "in process" and not yet closed. Good luck.

Krusty,

Got my call today. Thanks. What kind of wood is it? An interesting concept, the double reed. Kinda makes a Daffy Duck in distress kind of sound, but I like it. Not as loud as other calls, but for my personal application, that's a plus. Lots of calls lose their base at soft volumes. In fact, this is one of the critical points I addressed in designing my own calls. Many of my setups are relatively close quarters and this call's volume will work well under those circumstances. And it produces a sound that's different than all my other open reeds. In fact, as OR calls go, this one's a lot easier and more authentic in sound than many of my others. Thanks again, and I want to see a pic of the entire custom collection when it's completed.

Lance,

I am glad to hear you like the call! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif It's one I made way back when, and I had been keeping for myself, but I never seemed to take it hunting... so I figured it'd have a better home with you.

The wood is hazel, it's smaller than most of the other calls I make and that may be where some of the volume was lost.

If you lean on it a little hard, it won't sound so duckish, and it might bring back some of the volume.
The thin soundreed (not the topreed), about half as thick as most call makers use, is what allows it to play at lower air flow but I think the reeds suffer a shorter life span for it. But it also allows you to play the call without clamping down so hard on it with your lips (and I'll make new reeds for it forever).
The doubled reed "concept" comes to me from duck calls (P.S. Olt), and I figured it can't hurt on a rabbit (or any other mammal) distress sound... I mean after all don't mammals have two vocal cords?

The flame maple call collection I am building up is still a work in progress (so far I only have the one from you, and one from LJ), and I am having trouble getting a couple of call makers on board, not to mention I ran out of the wood in turnable size blanks (I used mostly the odds and ends scrap sizes, since I hand shape them anyways).
I have a couple pieces I am saving until Jay Nitsetter can get ahold of me, I want him one of his call in the collection more than any other.

I got to feeling guilty about leaving all this hanging... so I dug out a bunch of my suplies and got quite a bit of work done (it's been raining too hard to do much else).
Bud, I have your four calls finished (topcoat is drying as I type) and I'll ship them to you on my way to work tomorrow.
Jerryboy, I got your call all done except I am out of reeds and sleeves... as soon as I can get some ordered I'll send it on out (if it takes more than a few days to get that happening, I'll take apart one of my own calls to get parts for your call), I sent a fox whistle to hold you over until your higher pitched call has a reed in it.
Marc, I just sent the wood right now, I didn't add my copy of the Coyote Gods Video (two thumbs up), because I had already packed the wood up before you asked, and I only had so much money for shipping.
Lemme know if you found a copy of your own yet, or if you still would like to borrow mine, we'll work somethin' out! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Travis A, I didn't send your package of wood yet, I couldn't find your mailing address without a running computer.
I got it now and I'll try to ship yours the end of the week.
Randy, I am workin' on it, times are very tight.
I haven't received a single payment, or an order, since we made our deal for the return of your money... so it's not like I am just ignoring you.
I actually debated long and hard whether to pay you, or my phone bill, the other day.
Crapshoot, I got yours almost done now too, I'll get ahold of you in a week or so about payment/shipping arrangements.
Walt, have fun with all the wood. I can't wait to see what you spin up for me, the maple is so beautiful.

After this round of calls/orders is all taken care of, I am gonna have to think long and hard whether or not I am gonna keep at this call making thing at all.
I haven't had the fun at it lately, that I did when I first started...
And I am more than tired of my abilties (or lack thereof) as a hunter being compared to my ability to make a quality call... do guys who've killed hundreds of coyotes automatically know how to make calls?
What about a Critr Call made by a plastics worker in Korea, I bet that guy never killed a coyote either?

But I digress... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I'd rather you keep those calls and sell them for yourself ; /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif If it helps you, you are welcome) I have more of the maple, and when you get things going again then I'll send you some more. Hang in there Krusty theres folks here that want your calls and are pulling for ya....

Krusty keep us post on how things are going

No way Bud...

A deal is a deal. Period!

The last thing I ever wanted this (or me) to turn into is a charity case, and the whole time I was making the calls I was thinking of how much pleasure it'd give me, to know you have 'em.

I'll have a bunch of calls to sell, from the wood I still have, if I ever get the inclination to do so, so I have more than gotten my part of the deal paid for, but only provided I actually earn it... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I am sending the calls out in the AM, because my word is everything to me.

You and I still need to work out the details on getting me a flame maple turkey box call, that would be the "crown jewel" of my call makers call collection!
