Overcoming warm winter weather

For those of you that hunt in the colder areas of the world you probably know that during cold winter months an abnormally warm spell will really slow coyote movement down.
I was planning to go out this Sunday for a full day of calling but the weather is calling for 3 degrees above freezing which is obscenely warm for my neck of the woods this late time of year.
I have a few tricks to try but thought it may be worth seeing what others do in these situations where weather slows coyotes down.

If deep snow on the ground, coyotes will be sinking in the snow, hunt areas with minimal snow cover.

I live in Helena and we have no snow and doesn’t look like any is coming. Some up high but think the coyotes are down low cause that’s where the food is.

That's the trick right now is most areas have a decent amount of snow. There's the odd windblown pasture but most areas of cover have a bunch of it.

Haha, we quail hunted this evening in 79 degree weather and 3 degrees above freezing is warm for you, 😂
Haha holy smokes 😂 that's summer weather! In this area if it gets above freezing for more than a day or 2 it becomes a nightmare of melted and refrozen snow and ice and then mud and ruts and grossness. In my perfect world it would never get above freezing until March! 😂

Bet it's warmer here... LMAO
Well, maybe… but at the moment it’s pretty warm here too!

Here when it gets above freezing and not much snow on the ground(melts quickly on row crop ground) the coyote don't travel as much because of mud, they don't like muddy feet. Especially don't want to lay on it. Pretty predictable at bait sites, look at NOAA see when temp drops below freezing, ground crusts up and coyote get on the feet.

Just to fit in…it got down to the teens last night!! Of course it’ll be in the mid 50’s today and low 60’s tomorrow, but that’s beside the point!!!
😂 it's been above freezing during the day for a week now and it's miserable. My calling day I cut short. Snow was like driving through wet sugar and I was soaked through by mid day. Managed to get one coyote and miss one more though.
Now we're almost out of snow which although it's easy to walk makes it way harder to hide in some of the barren open ground I often setup on.
Might sound crazy to you south folk but once frozen I love it to stay frozen

This is what I have been dealing with all season long……

Been hot and windy
Been hot
Been windy

I would take 28 degrees and a 7mph wind everyday!!!

Winter is usually on a Thursday in S. TX, but this year it fell on Tuesday. If I had not "overcome" warm weather, would have had to give up hunting entirely. ;)
