Just wondering if any of you guys have done any calling around Ozona. I picked up some land down there recently and have never hunted that area. If you have, what animals have you called up and what is your average in a night. Thanks, Jeff

Looks like great cat and coyote country. Personally never hunted it, but have fun with that drive!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I had a deer lease out there for a while on the Crokett/Pecos county line. That is sheep and goat country and they keep the coyotes thined down pretty good. It is good fox and bobcat country, especially along the Pecos river. It is also not uncomon to come acroos a lion while hunting there. The state record lion was killed there in Crockett county and is diplayed in the bank in Ozona.

Good Hunting

Thanks Byron, That just enforces what we had already heard. Very few coyotes, but many fox and a some cats. The same story in Brady. Looks like a Bobcat hunt.

Just finished watching Volume II. You really put together a great video with some impressive commentary. We know how hard it is to talk to the camera, and you put your knowledge into words very well. I thought the shooting practice with Bucky and yourself was a great idea. Our video should be ready to send to the duplicators in a week(unless we hit another snag). Byron put tegether another good video folks and it is defenately one for the collection. Thanks for the info Byron and good luck on volume III.
Stay hooked and be cool /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif . txpred

I was going to mention how the sheep & goat raisers keep the coyotes thinned out, but I see I was beat to it. It is GREAT grey fox country, though, and like Byron said you can find a few cats near the water....both the bobtailed and longtailed versions, although the lions are few and far between. I happen to know the guy in charge of the predator control program down in Crockett County and he takes great pride in letting you know how effective they've been at keeping their sheep and goat losses to a minimum. Regardless, it is still a great area for calling fox and some cats. Beautiful country!

Take care and good luck!
