I've hunted black tails every month of the year. Doesn't matter to me if it's January, February, etc. As long as I'm reasonably comfortable with the outside temperature, I'll give it a try.
So, today was an absolutely perfect day (weather wise) in every way. Beautiful day, warm temps, and NO wind, (which is very rare on the high plains to catch a wind free day)!
So I loaded up the gear, hit the road to see what the day might offer. I was trying to clean up a bunch of test loads, so my powder ranges were everything from my std. powder charge, to .5 gr. heavier, with about 4 different brands / weights / and types of bullets all mixed in together.
Got rid of all the test loads, and now several PD's are in permanent hibernation. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Longest shot of the day was 450 yds., which kind of surprised me to get one at that distance, given that I was shooting all this varying ammo.
Turned out to be an excellent day all the way around, from the weather, to the hunting. Felt good just to be outdoors, and I'm grateful for having the opportunity!
