PAD firmware update?

I just bought the PAD and have read about a firmware update. This was back in 2011. I just bought this caller today 2013 and am curious how to know if it needs the version update or already has it? Also there was talk about no name sounds list on the remote when downloaded new sounds.Is this still an issue or? Thanks for any help for you PAD owners.
 
Go into settings. Look in info and it will state what version software you have. The current version is 1.3. You can also tell when you sync the remote up and it states the seriAl number of the speaker. Hide this Helios
