Anyone have any experience with this cross? Any thoughts on how effective it might be for decoying coyotes? The one Im looking at is 20 pounds and kills coons and will go in a hole after a groundhog. He does have some grit. Will this grit get him killed? Or will the grit go away when faced with a coyote? Any thoughts?

questiom#1
is he killing the occaisional coon or the majority?
some can,most can't
question#2
a 20lb terrier is a big terrier for ground work,if he is checking holes it might take you awile to get to your desired calling spot, mine are in the ground for up to 45 minutes at a time and that requires some digging.(havent heard of any decoy doggers carring shovels)would probably be a good idea to use a locator collar on him as he will get backfilled if he continues to go to ground

question#3
"he does have some grit" he better have ALOT of grit if he is killin coons

these would be a few things i would be concerned about, most jagd/patts i have had or hunted over(or straight jagds or patts for that matter)have to much fire in the belly to be decoy dogs. terriers for the most part are some of the smartest dogs but also the most hard headed. i would love to see a terrier that can kill a coon and still be toned off. the ones worth there salt ain't programed that way. there is a world of difference between a coyote and a coon, a adult coon is a handfull for a single terrier,a coyote is way more than a 20 lb terrier wants, his grit will get him killed. one thing good terriers don't realize is size, they still think they can kill a coyote even thou they dont stand a chance.i know this contradictes what kelly j is doing with a jack russel but these arn't jacks, and i would bet kelly has done a great job with recall with his. if i was to venture down this road i would start with a pup not a dog that is already killin coons and goin to ground. i can see where the smaller less imtimadating dog could work well but these dogs dont get imtimadated.jmo

This dog being too big to go in holes is why he is for sale. You do bring up a good point emerald. I dont want to dig him out every hole we walk by on my coyotes stands. I hadnt really thought about that. Jesse, you moved too far away man.
