Patterning board?!

What do you guys use for patterning shotguns?

I came up with this and think it should work fine.

With the holidays here, I had a bunch of left over wrapping paper. I cut out some 20"x30" pieces and printed some targets on standard computer paper. I figure when turned sideways the target is a pretty good estimate of a yotes vitals and the wrapping paper will give me an idea of where the others are...
 
I have a stand that I pin my targets to for rifle and I use the same stand with freezer paper pined to it for shotgun.The stand is made of 2x2 and a large piece of cardboard for backing.I gust use a felt marker to make a 2" bulls eye in the center of the freezer paper.
 
What you need to pay attention to is the pattern that is going to HIT THE COYOTE and not the fringe areas. A simple piece of printer or notebook paper turned horizontally will suffice.

What can you use? Most anything .....

piece of plywood

newspaper (hard to see the holes though)

wrapping paper

butcher's paper

the side of your house ... if your wife don't care.

Seriously: The best thing that I have found is a sheet (or half sheet) of 1/8" plywood (cheap) to use as a backing. Nail it to a tree, stand it up against a hill, etc. Even though you're trying to concentrate on the smaller target, you still need to know where the center of your pattern is in relation to your point of aim. You'd be surprised at the shotguns out there that don't shoot where they're pointed.
