Will be going to Kansas in April. Would like to hunt PDs and coyote any recomedation? Just like to have a "Back-up" plan just in case ? Thanks....

What part of the state are you going to, I might be able to help you out. Also you might try the local ag extension office, they have told us areas of prairie dog concentrations in their county.

There is some good shooting about an hour or less west of Pratt in Hodgeman Co. I have a good friend in Pratt who might be able to give me some areas closer.

That would be "GREAT"!!!! I'am going that way to see my son who is stationed in K.S..(A.F)
I figured while I'm there we do some PD shooting, togethere. My son will taking leave. Im semi-retired. Any help would be great. I,ve got one contact in Pratt. But it would be nice to have back-up plans if all go's to hell?
Thanks.....

There is a TON of dogs out around Dodge City. I have been in the Leoti/Scott City are many times pheasant hunting always saw a bunch around there also.GOOD LUCK!!

Smitty, I live south of you at Paola, hunt a lot up around Denton. I plan on going out west this weekend to find a few dogs and try out a couple of new rifles. I'll post some results when I get back.

Pretty damn cold last weekend for pds. but we did make several trips out to the pasture to bust off a few. Actually the coyotes were really active and we switched up and went that way. Got three on my birthday last Friday.

Not a whole lot there... but there is alot of coyotes! I know several of the big farmers in the area I haev hunted on in the past. You have family there?? I dated a girl that grew up in Leoti.

HEY !there people! anyone going tobe around Pratt KS this up coming weekend?(April 11-16) I sure would like to have afew PD towns pointed out to me and my son.

PDshooter, I live west of Dodge City, and out here I declared open season on jack-rabbits last weekend. We have been so dry here that the jacks are thriving. Last year I shot right at 170 jacks out of a patch of sagebrush that is about 80 acres. This was only shooting for about an hour in the evenings for about 2 weeks. So far this year in 3 times out I am at 42.

What makes it fun is they are in the sagebrush so you find them with your binoculars and then try to find them in rifle scope. If you are lucky they will get into enough of a clearing to shoot. Ranges anywhere from real close to 400 yards.

Hopefully will be back out tonight since there are no white caps on the toilet bowl today.
