Well I am down to 3 scopes for my new AR when I get it from Dtech. In this order
1. Pentax 4X12X40 with Precision Plex 130$ @ Cabelas
2. Barska 4X16X40 with Mil Dots 90$ @ Cabelas
3. Simmons 6.5X20X40 with Trueplex 110$ @ Cabelas

I have never had a scope from any of these companies what would be the best scope for the money? And the best Quality also. I have put them in order of what I think is best for Quality and price.

All of the Pentax scopes that I have seen have had great clear optics . Out of the scopes that you mention , Pentax would be my pick . I have never had a Barska scope . I have had several Simmons and most of them are OK but not great .

The lenses for the Simmons and Barska's are made at the same plant in Red China, yea the commies have learned about mass production and out sourcing. I think the Pentax lenses are still made in Japan But they could be geting them from Tiawan. BTW Japanese lens makeing has been the equal of the Germain and Swiss for many years, with the Red Chinese and Tiawainese catching up by leaps and bounds

the parts for a Pentax are the same parts used in Burris scopes....newest FFIIs/Lightseekers are made in the Phillipines.

Check with E. Arthur Brown Company if you go Pentax. I got a nice looking 3x-9x-50 precision plex for $119 shipped. Not a bad looking scope either. Haven't had time to get down to business with it on my Omega yet.

Thanks ARCorey for the info but I have a Cabelas club Visa Card and have like 50$ saved up so I am getting it from them. Also I am getting the 4X12X40 for only 129.99 so I'll spend the little extra for the extra 3 powers I'll be shooting some long ranges with it and the extra 3 powers will be real nice.

I couldn't pass mine up, any Pentax 50mm is worth $119 to me. I wanted a low light scope for my new Omega muzzleloader. Good luck with your new purchase. I really like the looks and clarity of mine, targets will tell all.
