Pic of my very first dirt hole set

Id check your pan tension. tighen the nut so the trap fires at 3 lbs of pressure. Try moving the set and using different lure/bait

It most likely wouldn't work for that critter again but what about the fox or the next coyote to amble by...I almost always reset and add another set nearby with a different set type and different lure/bait combo.

A plain ole scent post close by seems to work most times. I feel the one that sprung your trap wants to mark the place every time it comes by just to show everyone in canineland the he is top dog of the area since he figured out/got lucky on that set.

As always $.02

are you sure that trap is a no. 3 duke?

it looks like a no. 2 square jaw victor to me which is not capable of properly holding a coyote....

i would suggest that if you are serious about catching one you get some good traps or you'll just be frustrated...

the animal was not in your trap very long as there is no definite catch circle...

good luck

Turns out it was a Bridger, and he bent it up pretty bad.

Its a learning process. I am improving my equipment.

What do you use?

my typical dirthole set...
