Here's another mid-length 16" with a YHM rifle-length handgaurd.
another view
Same upper and barrel with a different scope and lower..
and a different gun altogether, but with the same scope as the one above..
Can't remember if I have ever put a rifle-length handguard on a carbine-length gas system before, but the mid-length should be basically the same appearance since the barrel length is the same in the pics above.

Is that a custom tan/gold color on your rifle with the stainless steel barrel? That is a beautiful weapon! So midlength is simply that the gas tube and block is farther down the barrel? I guess the rifle length doesn't look as weird as I thought it might on a 16" barrel.

You are correct that the only difference is the location of the gas block. I painted that lower, upper and handguard with Brownell's Aluma-hyde II in an effort to try and match the Magpul FDE parts.
In general handguard lengths are carbine=7 1/4" mid=9 3/8"
rifle=12 1/2" this may vary buy mfg appx 1/4"
DPMS only offers the carbon fiber in carbine or rifle length.]
DPMS prices for rifle length $99+ shipping + Mn residents pay tax.
They can also be had from Brownells for 89.99+ shipping no tax or $78.57 if you have an account plus shipping.
I have an account if your in the metro area.
Being carbon fiber I dont know about adding a stud for rifle sling or bipod. Also the barrel nut is threaded on and tightened and then the carbon fiber tube is epoxied to the barrel nut sounds like a one time deal.

I have an ffl dealer/gunsmith putting the rifle together for me so I want to see how cheap he is able to get it for me otherwise I travel from Ramsey to Albertville and St. Cloud during the week so I'm pretty close to the metro area. Thanks for the offer, I'll try and get back to you soon about it.
No...I'm a complete noob at AR's. Have you put together a carbon fiber handguard before? Do you happen to know if the ones at Brownell's have a bipod stud installed? I think if you buy it from DPMS it has one
Pretty much a noob myself, Replaced a factory forearm on mine with a DPMS fluted from Brownells. Have no idea on either Brownells or DPMS if they have bipod stud installed I dont think either does and not sure if its even possible with the carbon fiber which is why I mentioned it. DPMS most likely has a 1-800 number maybe call them and ask if it does or not and if not if they recommend installing one.
I just told my gunsmith to order the DPMS rifle length for my RRA Coyote Carbine. It's gonna look badass and I can't wait to shoot some coyotes and red fox this fall!

It's ok, but it is kind of heavy - not sure of the actual weight. The YHM is certainly a robust rail/handgaurd system. You can also attach additional rails to it, if you chose, but they are kind of pricey IMO. This one also has threaded holes where you can put a sling attachment screw that cost about $5.
If weight is a concern the Midwest SS series appears to be quite a bit lighter, as I just discovered.
This past weekend I put a Midwest SS mid-length rail on the rifle in the pics in my post above, which is also lighter since it's shorter than a rifle length, but I suspect the rifle-length SS is also lighter because of the way it's built - much less material. I swithched to the mid-length rail since I eventually plan to get an Adarms Arms piston kit for this AR and this rail will work with it.
I moved the YHM rail to my .204 Ruger varmint rifle, where the weight is not an issue since it's a bench rifle anyway.
