Lets hear some suggestions. I know the glock/XD/M&P are all out as she doesnt like how bulky the grips are.
O and she wants a lazer. No revolvers also.

I've been looking at the kahrs...they're light, slim, and look like a neat little gun. I love the 1911 platform but a a kahr in some shape might be my next pistol as a backup gun or for lighter carry.

Sorry ... just looked on the LaserMax website & the internal guide rod laser isn't offered for the Kahr P40.

That's a shame, because it would make one heck of a carry setup.

I know you said the XD was out,but have you looked at the XDS. I have one and the grip is a lot slimmer then a XD. Mine is a 45, but the mag holder is also marked 9mm/40 so they must be in the process of making those calibers also. As for the laser, I'm not sure if one is available yet.

Sig Sauer P238 .380. My wife has one, has a CT laser guard, fantastic little pistol, and with the 1911 styling and the single action trigger, it's much easier for smaller female hands than the Ruger LCP (which my wife also has).

take a look at the Diamond Back 9mm...Only slightly larger than the Ruger LC9 and except for the trigger, it is exactly like a miniature Glock...Mine is extremely accurate at 50 yards and other than one fail to feed in the first magazine fired, I've never had a hiccup since...DAO with a really smooth trigger pull...

There is information included with the pistol for obtaining a lazer sight..

I can relay a story here. I've been trying to get my wife to become more interested in shooting for the 41 yrs we've been married. No success. She does well on the rare occasions she goes to the range but it doesn't light her fire.

Well, she's an artist and at a very recent class given by the female instructor who is a friend of hers, the instructor said she had a CHL and carried. Several other women chimed in with supportive comments. She came home and said she wants a gun and a license.

She likes safety features and I've always liked Ruger products and had tried an SR40C at a local shop and thought it had a pretty good trigger for a striker fired gun. She tried the SR9C and likes it. It fits her hand and she can work the slide. We bought it.

She's now been to the range with it two times, shooting the TX CHL course on the stopwatch. She shot 233 out of 250 the first time and Wed, shot 238 with a better group. She takes her class on Sunday.

Good times, she plans to go to the range on regular basis, not as often as I go but routinely. Excellent. Don

LCP and Shield are good choices, as is the Diamondback.

I would take her to a gun store and get her to hold a few guns, or even rent one or two at the range if this is possible.

For a carry gun I really like a DAO or Spurless revolver, nothing to mess with and you just pull it out and it is ready to go. Used to have to carry on my job in the Seattle rail yards at night, lucky I never had to pull it.

I have an LC9 and it is a dandy lil gun, it shoots very good for its size. I also recently got the XDs 45, and I noticed the holster was also labeled 9mm/40.

Find you wife a female only CCW class and let her pick her own pistol. We have a range here where she can rent a hand gun to shoot in the course. Then let her buy what she wants.

Stay out of it and you will be a happy husband.

I plan to purchase a Kahr CM9 (9mm) for concealed carry this winter. I also prefer a double action trigger for this purpose (simple = pull the trigger) and the trigger on this gun has received a lot of compliments online. Many good options out there...
