Or just lack of knowledge. But what is the big deal with a pmag? Is it just that they are plastic and lighter? not so cold when you touch them? Is it because they have a sight window and cover/cap on them? I own one, bought it at a gun show last spring. it is still in the wrapper. I am not really sure why I bought it, the metal magazines I have work just fine. If someone would be so kind and educate me on the matter, it would be much appreciated.

Metal GI mags were made to be through away mags. Magpul Pmags are not. They are twice the quality of what a metal mag dreamed about being. I'm pretty hard on mags when I teach and I have a pile of metal mags wig bent feed lips and dents in the sides of them that make them worthless. I have not had a pmags fail on me yet. I have several that are cracked and they still work 100%. Magpul offered to replace them, but I wanted to see how long they hold up. Pmags are top notch. Anyone who wants to trade pmags for my pile of good metal one let me know.

I have both, the metal gi mags are dented up, plastic don't dent, p- mags are quailty, metal imo are cheap junk.

BS! I'd take a metal mag over a Pmag every day of the week and twice on Sunday. They are tacticool... Nothing more! IDIOTS are all that would pay more then $16 dollars for them...

Point proven...

I believe the USMC contractrd with Magpul for Pmags. They must not be to tacticool. The USMC don't strike me as more concerned with looking good than performing top notch with top notch equipment. Brother you should always trust a Devil Dog!!

Never jumped on the Pmag bandwagon either. I'll stick with my USGI aluminum mags. Replaced the followers and springs, never had an issue. They have been used and abused and like the slogan, they keep on ticking.

Funny, during my time in the USMC, I never once heard the USGI style mags were designed or thought to be "throw away mags"...whatever those are. Dents can be fixed, bent feed lips and be fixed, broken Pmags cannot.

PMAG torture test

I have had nothing but good luck with Pmags, I like to use the 20 rounders. I have 20, 30-rounders that I will drag to a gun show in 2 weeks that I will be willing to part with for the right money. Everything is for sale if the price is right.

So I really am not missing much. Once apon a time they were cheaper. Quiter, yes. Possibly stronger, but no chance of bending them back into shape. Thanks for the input everyone!

So "devil dog" enlighten us on more of your vast knowledge on the subject. Were you issued Pmags in the sandbox?

I have 5- 30 round Pmags tan, 2 of them NIB. If they are that good surely you'd be willing to trade 3 of your USGI mags per one Pmag. I'b be happy to trade with whoever wants to take me up on that deal.

Do you have any actual proof of this? I have quite a few real good buddies that are Marines, and they all said that's BS. Gotta link?
