Political phone calls

I hate getting calls from politicians, and special interest groups. Worse than that, I hate getting them on my cell phone.
I pay for those minutes, I dont want them used (stolen) by a bunch of fools wanting my vote.

As a matter of fact, bothering me with a nuisance call is a good way to convince me to NOT vote for you.

Getting yourself on the don't call list helps a lot. https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx . I think you have to do it for each of your phone numbers.

It doesn't stop them all but does help. When you get a call always ask them to remove you from ALL their lists.

The political calls can be fun. Most of the time I tell them that I contribute my money to the NRA, They should ask them for it.

Sometimes the devil gets into me and I'll start asking questions about the candidate. Specific questions about specific bills or positions and the candidates rationale behind his/her position. That will usually get them all flustered and they just give up.

will that list stop the sales ppl calling to????? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif we get like 10 of them a day /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif

Yes, it's specifically designed as a no call list for tele-marketers.

The telemarketers (scammers) STILL don't pay attention to the do not call list. They call my unlisted, do not call registered number quite regularly. I've set my caller ID to block most calls, but some get through. If I happen to answer, I get extremely rude with them. They are ignorant %$#@@$#%@% and I treat them as such. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif

I got a phone call from "voter roll call" the other night. They hung up AFTER I answered the phone. I looked up their number on the caller ID, called them back and ripped them a new one for bothering me at night. I also blocked their number w/ my caller ID unit. MI VHNTR

Oh gosh, this is my favorite passtime! I love giving tele-marketers a hard time.

Time is money, and they are wasting mine. For instance, a big window company use to call me all the time. I kept asking them to leave me alone and they kept calling, like two or three times a week. One day I had enough, and started off, "gosh, you timed this perfectly! We're remodelling our house and was just talking about we needed windows! Do you sell doors, we need some doors too. How about roofing, do you do rooves. How about vinyl siding, we have so much to do it would be great if I could just get it all from one source. Do you do septic tanks? We're gonna have to replace ours and all the plumbing."

Finally, the guy, unable to get a word in edgewise, just said thank you and hung up. I don't know they've ever called back. One day the phone rang and some lady was trying to sell something. I told her until I sold my riding lawn mower I couldn't buy anything and started telling her all about it. She finally hung up on me. Then one time I told them I would be interested in whatever it was they were selling in a few months, but my lawyer told me not to be buying anything else until I got this bankruptcy thing cleared up (they offered payment plans for whatever it was they were selling). Guess what? They called me back in 6 months and asked how it was coming!

The best I ever was told was by a guy that spoke some Lithuanian. If he thought it was a tele marketer he would answer speaking nothing but Lithuanian, some where in there he would stop and say Lithuania and they would hang up. Made them think they had called eastern europe by mistake.

The thing that got me is I got one of those calls last night it was from a Democrat it was after the polls closed. But then what can you expect.

It's going to be a rough two years for the Nation. Hope people see the real light before 2008 or we're headed down a real long road and it won't be pretty.
